Arrived around 3pm Sunday and were seated promptly in a booth in the middle of the restaurant. We were surrounded by other people when the restaurant had plenty of other empty tables with a harbour view. Were given menus to browse when we sat down. The restaurant wasn't overly busy, but it was impossible to get the servers' attention to order. 3 times, she ignored us and served other tables. Finally ordered meals and drinks, which did arrive promptly with some bread for the table. My partner had the New York burger, I had the moules mariniere with fries, and our daughter had the fish and chips with tartar sauce (huge portion for the kids menu). My moules weren't particularly hot, and I did notice other people's steamed when their lid was lifted by the server. I also had to wait some time before my main arrived compared with the rest of the mains. My partner wanted vinegar, but we didn't get a table check back and couldn't get anyone's attention. After finishing our meals, we waited ages for someone to clear the table and provide menus for dessert. And ages again to order our dessert. For dessert, we ordered the Cafe Gourmand, and this was a coffee and selection of mini desserts. The baked apricot cheesecake was not very nice, burnt on the bottom, and stodgy. Our daughter had 2 scoops of ice cream, caramel, and vanilla, which she enjoyed. Managed to get the bill fairly promptly after being in the restaurant for nearly 2 hours. No tip was left as we were served by a total of 4 different staff members, none of which were particularly friendly, and we were blatantly ignored for not being local. I would not recommend dining here if you...

This was our first time in Dunkirk, and Le Protocole stood out as the only restaurant in town without a break in service hours — which was a big plus for us. We ended up visiting twice: once for a late lunch, and later for coffee and dessert.

Our first visit was excellent, which is why we returned. The mussels were decent, and the male waiter was very friendly and welcoming. It left a great impression.

However, our second visit unfortunately did not match the first. After walking around town, we came back for a coffee and some waffles. A young waitress with red hair in a ponytail saw us but didn’t greet or seat us. Instead, she served a French couple who arrived after us. When she finally acknowledged us, she placed us at a table right next to the kitchen door — a spot that had a strong, unpleasant smell, almost like a toilet. The restaurant was nearly empty, so the choice of table felt intentional and unkind.

It’s disappointing to say this, but the experience felt discriminatory. It’s a shame, because our first visit was so positive. The inconsistency in service left us with...

Being new to any city, one depends on Google reviews and so did we. The restaurant is chic, no doubt. The welcome was good. Cocktails were okay but desserts were very good. We took starters platter (fritures- very good).

Major problem was for main course. It took 1 hour 5 minutes to get our order- Poutine au poulet (pathetic dish which gave me stomach ache later), Menu Enfant (Steak haché - again it was pathetic), Veg Pasta (came without sauce, no salt- basically tasteless), Caesar Salad (came without dressing and with big bland pieces of chicken) and Fish & Chips (totally tasteless). This was a basic order and nothing that special but food was simply pathetic.

Won’t recommend this place for food! If you want to some place with port view and drinks/starters, perfect place.

No value for money at all- paid 150€ for...

Food was simply horrible. They have such a beautiful location - ok the Design of the place is ostentatious, trying too hard to be upscale, but - this restaurant COULD be top notch. Yet, they really managed to ruin the food and made it a miserable experience, especially when the bill comes. Risotto that came with an overly fried fish was so salty it was inedible and tasted like old fat. No need to talk about consistency. 30 euros. The fries that came with a traditional meat dish were obviously pre-frozen and then sadly died in fat. How is it possible to ruin them so badly? Three stars because the waiters were nice and service not as slow as the other reviews said. And they gave a discount because of the inedible parts of the dishes.
