This food is not Indian. And the people even less so. I am an Indian and I am ashamed to see this place call itself Indian. Such terrible people. They even cheat you; take your money and don't care if you get what you paid for. And the food was disgusting.
I was in Dunkirk for a visit with my husband and 2 toddlers and was happy to place an order to get some Indian food. Especially since I saw good reviews.
We ordered the food at 20.13 for pickup and they said the food would be ready at 20.45. My husband went there at 20.45 and they made him wait for more than an hour to get the food! He only got it at 10. Meanwhile my kids were hungry and crying at home. But the restaurant didn't care.
When we finally got the food, it was tasteless, cold, dry, and seemed like it had been prepared 3 days before. We could barely bite into the chicken kebab, it was so hard. The curry had no taste. Seemed like they had opened a jar of supermarket food and added some dry chicken and water to it. There was no taste at all, forget Indian taste.
If the kids would not have been so hungry by then, we would have returned the food. They somehow managed to eat a little roti and sauce. Besides, my husband had already picked it up and come to the hotel. Was a little difficult to go back.
But that's not all! They didn't even give us the rice which we had paid for. When I called them to complain, the guy said too bad you had to wait. Doesn't matter if we gave you a time. Deal with it. Too bad your kids were hungry.
When I mentioned the rice, he also said too bad you didn't get it. Come and pick up some other time..I said we don't live here, and probably won't pass by again, so maybe he could come and deliver it to us, because we had paid for it.
You know what he did? He hung up!!!!!
So he didn't care that he didn't deliver something the customer had paid for. Why should he? He got the money, didnt he.
My husband is German, and even he was disgusted. He has been to India, we have been to many Indian places, and he can tolerate mediocre Indian food. But he could barely eat anything, we threw most of it away. He was also shocked at the attitude because this is not what he knows about India..
And the attitide? It almost made me cry to see a place calling itself Indian treat others like this. This is not Indian culture, values.
Please, just don't go there unless you want to have really bad food and be treated...
Read moreI've eaten Indian food at Lille and at Valencienne in the North of France. All bad. Without exception. So, if I've decided to give this place 5, I think I have good enough reason. (Btw, I think 4.8, which is the rating that they currently have, is perfect. You'll see why.)
They ACTUALLY have kheema on their menu. Something that is so simple and SO Indian. The taste is perfect! (The only slight issue and I'm reeeaaally nitpicking here, was that the potato was veeery slightly undercooked.) All flavours spot on.
I got a lamb Biryani. Perfect!! DElicious!!
I also got samosas. Lovely!
Another thing I personally like about the food is that it is not excessively salty, like most restaurants.
I live in Lille, so for me it's a bit of a pain to go to Dunkirk. But if I could, I would get food from there really often.
However, I'm looking forward to trying other dishes. I hope I won't be let down.
Also, the owner has the right attitude towards food and is not just there to sell. He's there to make everyone appreciate Indian food for what it really...
Read moreWe had a really bad experience. We ordered food for pickup. I was there at the agreed time and the waiter said it would be another five minutes. So far no problem. But in fact, I waited for over an hour while the children were hungry at home. At least there was a Coke on the house. When I got home, I noticed that the rice I had ordered and paid for was missing. On the phone, the waiter was rude and not understanding. We could pick up the rice next time when we order. Then he simply hung up. What's more, the food was not only cold, but also simply bad. The curry tasted stale, the roti was far too thick and dry. The kebab was very dry and also had little flavor. Fresh is different!
In summary, really terrible. I eat a lot of Indian food and I have been to India quite often. That is not what I am used from Indian food and especially not from Indian people. I can't remember ever having eaten such bad...
