La Lagune — Restaurant in Dunkirk

Sometimes you stumble into a place that reminds you why you eat out in the first place. La Lagune is that place. No pretense, no two-sittings-only theater, no “wait over there until we decide you can eat.” You walk in, you sit down. The room is alive with the hum of local families — not tourists chasing TripAdvisor stars, but people who know exactly where the good stuff is.

The service? Friendly — genuinely friendly — even to English speakers. The staff move with that rare kind of situational awareness: they see you, they clock what you need, and they get it to you without the scripted smiles or the faux urgency. Still unmistakably French, but in the way you want France to be — warm, human, a little wry.

The kitchen? Fast, consistent, and not shy about portion sizes. Plates arrive brimming, seafood fresh enough to taste the tide. And like one of the one star reviews, if you’re one of those people who complains they wouldn’t heat a baby bottle — wake up. That’s a health regulation, not a snub. The fact is, they deliver, and I’m fussy.

🌬️ Sonniger Tag, aber trüber Service

An einem sonnigen, jedoch kühlen und windigen Tag schlenderten wir entlang der belebten Promenade von Dünkirchen. Nach mehreren erfolglosen Versuchen, einen Platz in den umliegenden Restaurants zu ergattern, fanden wir schließlich ohne Reservierung einen Tisch im La Lagune.

Leider begann unser Besuch mit Verwirrung: Das Personal wirkte von Anfang an desorientiert. Gäste, die nach uns eintrafen, wurden vor uns bedient, was zu erheblichen Wartezeiten führte. Unsere Bestellung wurde vergessen, und erst nachdem die später angekommenen Gäste bereits gegessen hatten, erhielten wir unser Essen.

Das bestellte Fleisch, das wir “medium” geordert hatten, kam leider durchgebraten und trocken wie eine Schuhsohle auf den Teller. Ein Jammer um das gute Stück Fleisch!

Fazit: Die Preise sind, wie für diese Lage üblich, eher hoch. Der Service jedoch ließ stark zu wünschen übrig. Sehr schade, denn das Fleisch hatte Potenzial.

35 minutes pour être installé, les serveurs passent à côté de vous sans même un "bonjour", nous avons finalement dû demander si nous devons nous installer seul, on nous a répondu "normalement non..". Ne voyant personne nous installer, nous nous sommes mis à l'extérieur. Nous avons du attendre 45 mins supplémentaire pour avoir les couverts et la carte, une fois la carte reçu on nous annonce qu'il n'y a plus de moule enfin si une seule pour toutes les personnes qui attendent. Lorsque je fais la remarque la serveuse gênée nous dit qu'elle peut prendre notre commande tout de suite et nous positionner sur la moule.. DU JAMAIS VU pour un restaurant en bord de plage. Nous nous positionnons donc sur la dernière moules restantes, elle revient nous voir quelques minutes plus tard pour nous annoncer que finalement il n'y a plus de moules. Ça faisait déjà 1h30 que nous étions là sans avoir mangé. Nous nous sommes donc rabattu sur une entrecôte et des croquettes de crevettes. QUE DIRE... ce n'était pas fameux. Point positif...
