Cafe Kanter — Restaurant in Grasse

Warning: Check your bill!!! The place has a lovely atmosphere ,attention to details is exceptional and I had the best cappuccino in my life here, but...while enjoying my world class cappuccino wondering how much this small luxury could cost, it came to my attention there were no menus at my and surrounding tables what instantly raised a red alert. So out of pure curiosity I started googling the reviews of this place. To check whether my instinct and the negative reviews were reliable, I asked to pay and (as expected) at first, the waitress did not bring the bill but just said::9 Euros (note:;I ordered 1 cappuchino + 1;pain au chocolate). I paid 9 Euros and kindly asked for the bill. As expected, there were 2 pastries on the bill instead of 1. I politely mentioned that and she gave me 2 eur back. Lesson learned: it seems that the staff regularly treat their guests (in particular the non local guests) as idiots, using every opportunity to squeeze every single euro by using all methods. I do not believe this was unintentionally, since numerous reviews confirm the same methods. Note:I always give more than generous tips and I was prepared to do it here for this spectacular cappuchino served in a perfect cup and with an unbelievable foam. However, it seems they are rather pursuing the "ripping off" policy instead of getting great recommendations and keeping new clients. We had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. First, we found dishwashing steel debris in two of our dishes, which is completely unacceptable and a serious safety concern. When we asked about the drinks, the waiter gave us the wrong price, which led to more confusion when the bill came.

We also asked for “a water”, and without clarifying whether we wanted tap or bottled, they brought us an €8 bottled water—something that could’ve easily been avoided with a simple question.

When we politely raised these issues and expressed our confusion about the bill, the waiter dismissively responded with “This is France, it’s like this everywhere”, in a rude tone.

Unfortunately, the food was overshadowed by the poor service and overall unprofessionalism. We’ve visited Paris, Nice and other cities in France and this is the only place where we experienced such issues. We cannot recommend this place based on...

Not sure how they got 4.4 stars. Completely overpriced and overrated. We found sharp metal debris twice in both fish and smashed potatoes of the same dish, which could be really dangerous! When we showed the waitress the 1st debris we found, she just said sorry for 1 second and left immediately!

When I asked for the price of wine, they said €6 but the bill was €8 each and both the red and white wine tasted bad. Probably they just use €5/bottle wine from the supermarket. When I raised questions about the price, the waiter said it’s just €2 difference in a disrespectful way.
