What an experience!! Most fun meal I've had in a month in Europe. Fabio and Sabina have a party going in a small space packed with fresh pasta, black truffles (she's happy to show you), magical cheese and sauce, and fresh bread and flatbread, plus a healthy dose of passion for food and life. My man had the lasagna, which was probably the best I've ever tasted - magical sauce nicely balanced with just enough cheese and plenty of meat to be flavorful, creamy, and hearty but not overwhelming. My piadine with truffle and sausage was amazing and generous: I'm looking forward to enjoying the second half for lunch. We complemented it with perfectly drinkable red table wine and finished with the best tiramisu I've had in my life (and I'm almost 50), made in house by Fabio - just enough sugar, and a little tango was in a lower layer of mascarpone with fluffier cream layer on top of the espresso-soaked ladyfingers. Nociola and Springsteen went with the tiramisu; Fabio likes his rock, and by the end of the evening we were all jamming out to Stairway to Heaven. I like to cook and enjoyed watching this duo work their magic. Yes, yes, yes! Seating is limited and they have plenty of fans, for...
Read moreWe walked in for dinner and were greeted by a woman at the front. That was about the only smooth part of the experience.
We had to wait for menus. When they finally arrived, we tried to explain our food preferences and allergies. She ignored us completely and walked away mid-sentence. The place was nearly empty, but somehow she was always busy with something else and never available to actually help.
As I was about to say I’m not a big fan of truffle, she suddenly opened a covered truffle and shoved it right in my face. I was stunned. We also tried to explain that someone in our group has a gluten allergy, but she kept talking over us and listing pasta options without ever asking what we were looking for or what we could actually eat.
After ten minutes of being talked at and completely dismissed, we gave up and left. Maybe the food is good, but we didn’t get far enough to find out. The service made it impossible.
She also kept bringing up Fabio, who I assume is either her husband or business partner, and talked about what he prefers. At no point did she ask what we wanted. That about sums it up. This place seriously needs to rethink its approach to...
Read moreOur first night in Antibes was absolutely amazing. After reading reviews on local resturants I decided to go with what was explained as a small Italian family run resturant with authenticate pasta. What the reviews didn't explain is how you are really going to Romagna Mia for a meal served from the home of Fabio and Sabia. We had such an amazing night visiting, joking and learning from Fabio and Sabia. They really really love what they do and it shows. They create such a wonderful atmosphere and it doesn't hurt that their food is above and beyond good. Its Beunossimo!!!! Amazing pastas, amazing desserts, great wine. Could not have asked for anything more. We will always remember this expierence of a lifetime. If you are thinking of going. Go. Dont even think about it. Small Note : They only take cash or check so make sure to bring some cash or there is an atm nearby at...
