L'Ôstral Rooftop — Restaurant in Grasse

Wir hatten für 17 Uhr reserviert und waren auch pünktlich da. Die Auffindbarkeit des Restaurants war allerdings schwierig: Man betritt das Best Western Hotel, findet aber keinerlei klare Beschilderung. Nur eine kleine Tafel weist auf den Namen hin. Danach geht es mit dem Aufzug nach oben, auch hier keine Hinweise. Schließlich noch ein paar Stufen weiter, und dann entdeckt man endlich die Rooftop Bar.

Oben angekommen ist die Atmosphäre sehr schön und gemütlich. Die Terrasse ist nett gestaltet und wir wurden auch freundlich empfangen. Allerdings gab es zunächst ein kleines Sprachproblem (Englisch/Französisch), und wir sollten auf der Couch Platz nehmen, obwohl wir lieber einen Tisch wollten. Der gewünschte Tisch wurde dann plötzlich abgedeckt – auf Nachfrage erklärte man uns, dass die Küche erst ab 19 Uhr geöffnet sei. Das war enttäuschend, da wir ja zum Essen gekommen waren. Wir entschieden uns daher zunächst nur für ein Getränk.

Nach einiger Zeit kam der Kellner jedoch wieder und meinte, es gäbe bereits Vorspeisen. Kurz darauf hieß es sogar, die Küche sei nun geöffnet, sodass wir doch bestellen konnten. Wir wählten einmal gebackenes Huhn sowie das Rind mit Spinat und Kartoffeln. Geschmacklich war alles sehr gut abgeschmeckt, würzig und lecker. Leider war das Rindfleisch extrem zäh und sehnig – bei einem Preis von 35 € unserer Meinung nach nicht akzeptabel. Das Huhn hingegen war völlig in Ordnung.

Alles in allem ist die Rooftop Bar ein schöner Ort mit angenehmer Atmosphäre und nettem Service. Wir würden wiederkommen, allerdings nicht das Rindfleisch bestellen. Mit besserer Ausschilderung und konsistenter Küchenorganisation könnte das Erlebnis noch deutlich verbessert werden.

We had a reservation for 5 pm and arrived on time. However, finding the restaurant was quite difficult: you enter the Best Western Hotel, but there are no clear signs. Only a small board shows the name. You take the elevator upstairs – again no signage. After a few more steps, you finally discover the Rooftop Bar.

Once there, the atmosphere was very pleasant and cozy. The terrace is nicely designed, and we were warmly welcomed. At first, there was a slight language issue (English/French), and we were asked to sit on the couch, even though we preferred a table. The table we wanted was suddenly cleared, and when we asked why, they explained that the kitchen only opened at 7 pm. This was disappointing since we had come to eat. We therefore decided just to have a drink first.

After some time, the waiter returned and said that some starters were available. A few minutes later, he told us the kitchen was now open, so we could order after all. We chose the baked chicken and the beef with spinach and potatoes. The food was very tasty, well-seasoned, and flavorful. Unfortunately, the beef was extremely tough and sinewy – in our opinion unacceptable for €35. The chicken, however, was perfectly fine.

Overall, the Rooftop Bar is a nice spot with a good atmosphere and friendly service. We would return, but definitely not order the beef again. With clearer signage and more consistent kitchen service, the experience...

We reserved a table for five people and when we got there no one welcomed us, all employees wore casual clothes. and had to find an employee myself, we got a rocking chair and 2 terrace chairs and the table was really low. At first we had to eat, but we realized that we can't eat in those places. So we decided to have drinks, when the drinks came, we got the wrong drinks and the woman who was with us broke her dress because the patio chair had sharp parts! Then the employee came and said it was his first day and he didn't know English. I asked him to bring his boss. Then the manager promised free drinks and apologized and changed our place to a proper table. And when we left, they charged €50 for drinks that tasted really awful. And there were other people complaining about those places with terrace chairs and a rocking chair.. and the price-quality ratio is really bad! Too bad you can't put 0 stars. Really bad...

We had a great dining experience on the rooftop over the view of Antibes and Juan Les Pins horizontal sky. It's good for a romantic night out with a date or even hang out with a group of friends. We (2 of us) showed up without any reservation. They got some delicious cocktails, good food (we only had lots of aperitifs). Great services and hospitality. Waiters were polite and friendly.
