It’s a MOTEL, not a 4 stars hotel. 🤦🏻♀️ Wanna hear about our 48-hour nightmare with no hot water and no electricity?
1️⃣ 10/12: 7 PM: We checked in and had a nice dinner at the restaurant. 10 PM: We returned to our room only to find out there was NO HOT WATER. General Manager KEN BERKO and the entire restaurant staff told us “THE ENTIRE CITY IS WITHOUT ELECTRICITY AND HOT WATER.” KEN BERKO assured us it would be fixed by the next morning.
I HAD TO ENDURE A 15-MINUTE SCREAMING COLD SHOWER JUST TO GET CLEAN.
2️⃣ 10/13 Morning: Still no hot water, but the electricity was back. KEN BERKO then guaranteed we’d have hot water by 7:30 PM. He even said, “If it’s not fixed, I’ll get you another hotel.”
10/13 Evening: STILL NO HOT WATER. And again, KEN BERKO said, “It will be fixed tomorrow.” And we are leaving tomorrow. Lol is this a joke?
What kind of pathetic management is this? Why did KEN BERKO feel the need to LIE repeatedly? If you had no idea when the issue would be resolved, why didn’t you just let us leave?!
And guess what? My French friends who live in the area had ZERO issues with electricity or hot water while we suffered through this nightmare. What does that tell you? It means the general manager and his entire team lied and blamed the city for their own incompetence.
Is this some rundown motel in a remote corner of the world? How did this place get 4 stars? It should be renamed to MOTEL Alain Llorca at best.
We have recorded every conversation with KEN BERKO, and we demand a full refund for the absolute disaster we endured. If you refuse, we will take legal action.
As for the room conditions—don’t even get me started. It was INFESTED WITH BUGS and had ZERO SOUNDPROOFING.
Good luck running a business this way. I hope the hotel management has the sense to fire KEN BERKO for his incompetence...
Read moreI wish I could give this place more than 5 stars. Such a wonderful experience from start to finish—beautiful views from the restaurant of Saint Paul de Vence, perfect service and incredibly delicious food. Everything was memorable. We made the mistake of snacking a lot in the afternoon prior to dinner, and so weren’t exactly hungry when we got there and so took the shorter 5 course. We were a group of 6 and they were accommodating about us taking different courses, could even swap out at the last minute a lamb course that I couldn’t have for one of my own choice from the a la carte options.
Lobster was truly outstanding—sweet and juicy and flavorful; citrus dressing and berries that brightened the flavors, not to mention exquisite plating. Cepes mushrooms risotto was incredible — meaty fragrant morsels of mushrooms in some heavenly sauce. Absolutely devoured it despite arriving half full. My zucchini flower stuffed with mushrooms and truffles was insane—huge chunks of black truffle discovered within the flower. Overall for the experience it was also so affordable compared to other fine dining places. There was a whole bunch of desserts as well, they were never ending! We were so full but the bread was so good and so we stayed till late, trying to savor all the last bits.
We had such a wonderful time, thank you! Would love to...
Read moreWait a year until it inevitably loses its star and its prices become somewhat more realistic.
The cooking was very good, up until the point we found a hair in our food. Not Michelin standard, but solid and some interesting flavour combinations. The “barely cooked” lamb was exceptional. Techniques restrained and classic and nothing inventive - putting a thin slice of banana on an oyster shouldn’t get you a round of applause.
The service was eye-popping. The remedy to the hair in the food was a free glass of champagne for the person they knew didn’t drink. Some courses from the menu were not offered or skipped. They seemed more interested in flogging champagne from their squeaky cart than serving their customers, and their clientele was exactly who you’d expect given their priorities. Not having a functioning lock on the toilet door was the most avant-garde design choice of the whole evening.
Earlier in the week we had one of the meals of our lives in Lyon for less than this clumsy facsimile of a top-tier restaurant charged for 5 courses.
One of the golden rules of restaurants remains; you can pay for the view or the food but not both. I’d always rather eat great food in a basement than hairy food on a hill, but I guess that’s not who they’re...
