This was one of the best, most memorable meals we had in the south of france, which is saying a lot as we had several amazing meals. First, the setting outside on the second floor terrace with incredible views and surrounded by plants. The town of Tourrettes-Sur-Loup is a perfect medieval town, gorgeous little alleys, but unlike St Paul de Vence, which I found hideously crowded and Disneyfied, French people actually live here, so highly recommend a walk before dinner. The restaurant was a mix of French people and tourists, we seemed to be the only English speakers on the terrace. Next, the service. Warm, professional, made us feel so welcome- Roman is an incredible host. Usually I do not get the wine pairings as they dumb them down to common things, but Roman served us a grower-producer champagne I have not seen in the US, and really interesting local wines that are not exported. Then the food- was a tasting menu, but they brought so many little extras between courses. The standout dishes were a lobster and spelt, their signature dish, and this incredible confit of tomatoes. There were no losers in the menu. Much better than the 1-star Michelin restaurant at the Chateau St Martin. I care so much about eating well, and do so much research before trips- If you are like-minded, please go to this restaurant. A joyous meal...
Read moreOur last meal during our stay in Tourettes was the best! And that is considering the other truly fine meals we had during our stay. We had the 7 course fixed menu with 3 paired wines. The courses included escargots, a delicately dressed salad of white asparagus, artichoke, cauliflower, radish and zuchini, mullet, lobster in risotto, pigeon, a rhubarb compote, and sorbet in lemon shell, all interspersed with delightful morsels in between. I can't begin to describe the incredible sauces and flavorings throughout! I capped my meal with a little bas Armagnac. To me, this meal and service excelled a fixed course meal at a Michelin starred restaurant in Margaux years ago! And as I see one reviewer also commented, the best meal of my life to date! Kudos to...
Read moreWow! What an experience. If you are going to in the French countryside, I would make sure that this is on your list and you make a reservation for dinner during your stay. I came in with a large group a few days ago and we had an incredible experience.
The food, service, and atmosphere were all excellent! Some highlights for me were the Lobster Risotto and the Tuna Wellington (and the lemon dessert!!).
The only feedback I have is it would be nice to maybe have a physical list of what we are eating! Our waiter was very attentive, but did not speak English well so we didn’t always know what was in the dish! Otherwise incredible experiences!...
