Many things to say about this restaurant! I have been coming to Juan Les Pins every year for the past 26 years and I never had an experience as bad as this one. Started with the reservation - we called in the morning of the same day to reserve a table for 20:30, arrived and our reservation was not there (which can happen), altough the owner was rude and acted like it was our fault. She told us to come back at 21:30 (even though on the phone they told us they were not accepting reservations after 21). Al good, arrived, and they placed us inside while we were waiting for a table outside. We got a bottle of wine and marinated olives which were good, and ordered a seafood plateau. We transferred outside, and in the first 10 minutes, while we were waiting for our food, we were approached at the table by a homeless woman begging for money, she acted very insisting, and got very close to us which we thought was weird and made us umconfortable, none of the staff sent her away, and she left by herself. 5 minutes later, we realized she had stolen my phone, which I told right away to one of the staff and started walking around the park next to the restaurant to see if i could find her. By the time we came back, the food was waiting for us at the table, but as soon as we said we were not hungry the owner started to become aggressive saying that there was no point going to the police station the same night and we might as well eat, even though I told her I was not hungry since that MY ENTIRE LIFE was on that phone. She started calming down only when we told her we were gonna pay anyway. The only thing she cared about was for us to pay for the food, never heard once even a "sorry" for the fact that this happened in HER RESTAURANT, and it was her responsibility to make sure the guests were at least "safe" while sitting at the tables. Had this happened in Italy, the dinner would have been offered or at least the wine, while she made us pay full price without even thinking about it. They eventually offered us a shot while we were waiting for a taxi, which I'm pretty sure was not the owner's idea but the waitress. The taxi took 30 minutes to arrive, at that point we were the only one left, we asked one of the waitresses if we could have waited for the cab while sitting at the table and she said yes, but when she went back into the restaurant I could hear the owner complaining in french (thinking I could not understand her) about the fact that she had no intention to sleep there for us, and eventually told us to go away. She was very rude, the only helpful one was the waitress who tried to help us find the taxi and apologized many times. The food I guess was good, but the whole experience was to forget, and I think the owner should take a step back and go take some hospitality classes because never have I ever had such a terrible experience. Just by looking at the replies of the restaurant to bad Google reviews, you can tell she has rage issues and I'm pretty sure the waitresses there were terrified by her....
Read moreLast week I was here for a dinner with friends.I will not judge the meal, I am not a gourmet of seafood, but during the visit I was appalled by the behavior of the staff. My friends ordered a plate of oysters, shrimp and snails. They received their orders together, on one plate. Moments after the food was served and we started to eat, the lady who brought the orders came back. She started counting the prawns and oysters on the plate. When it turned out that there are too many of them, the lady started to rummage in the plate with her bare hand and take them out !!! We received a few too many prawns and she decided to take them back... I can't imagine a similar behavior in any restaurant, e.g. in Poland, where I come from. I find it outrageous...
