We recently returned from a few days in Ars-en-Ré. La Bouche Rit was recommended to us by our hosts at Les Cles d'Ars and was easily a stand-out eatery from our whole trip. Booked on the advice of other reviews to find the whole village was at the feast of St Jean, and for a while it was only Brits eating here. Staff were lovely, really helpful when booking and GF choices. Food was "good" but felt a little overpriced. Filet mignon en croute was well cooked but the polenta et légumes was a little "squishy". Wife's Boeuf Tartare was a bit bland but pommes de terre and salad enjoyable. Chocolate and mango mousse pretty average. Cheapest wine very nice but...

Really enjoyed this meal - the food was creative and delicious. Staff were really friendly too. We particularly enjoyed the crab rillettes, the baked camembert and the fish main; the terrine was also delicious and felt home made. Portions are a good size, so some dishes could potentially be shared.
