Lobster Ponps — Restaurant in La Rochelle

For 38 euro: one tiny sandwich with few small pieces of lobster, 1 small cup of fries fast food type, 1 beer. The bread was a light industrial sponge with no taste, the fries were frozen caught from a plastic bag and fried like fastfoods do. “Lobster” was a polpe with small meat pieces like the ones you find in supermarket’s desks. Service was completely absent. Unreasonably expensive for such a low quality. After the dinner I was still hungry and I had to go for a burger somewhere else. For the same price in nearby restaurants you can have an entree, plat including side, glass of wine , service, and most of all you can taste local foods. I don’t usually give reviews but felt I needed to say something about here. We arrived and everything was okay and got a table without any problems. We ordered the lobster roll but unfortunately there was no lobster so it was substituted with crab which was fine with us. However, the food took over an one hour to come to the table even though the restaurant was not busy. When the food did come the fries were cold and the crab in the roll was minimal especially for the €27 cost. The waitress was apologetic and embarrassed so it must have been a bad day for them. Lovely lobster sandwich! Really tasty, fresh, unique in taste. Some sort of mint sauce made it feel really special. At start I was expecting that the lobster is warm; that was not the case, but having it in a warm bun with fries aside made it feel like a warm meal. It did matter, as it rained all day that day. The place is really chill and cozy; and instagramable; feels like a boutique. Is a one man show type of place; the guy takes your order, prepares it, serves it, cashes, provides advice, makes conversation when he finds the right time for it. Very friendly, helpful and honest.
