We took the 6 course menu and accompanying wines with a group of 4. The venue is nice, although a bit stiff / formal and very warm inside.
The menu itself was allright, not very refined nor inspiring. We started off with an amuse bouche that was rather salty and the menu kicked off with a beautiful dish starring mackerel we thought it a bold first dish but it was followed up nicely with the second dish with various mushrooms, although a touch salty it was nice and followed up the mackerel quite good.
The 3rd and the 4th course were uninspiring - sea bass that was cooked well but no crispy skin, on top of a seaweed broth and separately a mouse of butternut. Didn’t come together that great. Then a stewed meat on top of crispy parsnip, the parsnip wasn’t crispy and the stewed meat not something you’d expect at this price range, at least not how it was presented here.
Cheese was good, deserts were okay, but portions too big and didn’t fit with the other courses.
Service was inconsistent, the sommelier very kind, helpful and selected beautiful wines with throughout the menu. Other waiting staff came across as uninterested and menu was served very quick. Waiter that remained (as we were one of the last in the dining hall) was very kind and made us all laugh.
Okay restaurant, but not worth the €700+ bill for...
Read moreWe stayed 2 nights at the hotel. It included 2 breakfasts, which we enjoyed. We eat light in the AM and the fresh fruit, juices, pastries and cheese were good.
We also booked a dinner. Wonderful view over the beach with the sun going down. English can be a little problematic but thats our fault and not the staff. Wine price was a little steep, but the same price you would pay at a comparable restaurant in the US. We ordered the Holiday Special prix fixe menu. Presentation was beautiful. Food was very good and inventive.
But to be honest, while we don’t dine like this often, we are beginning to tire of dining experiences like this (3 in 3 weeks as we’ve been traveling). We prefer the same quality of food in a more relaxed environment and where the presentation does not have to be so composed and structured. We appreciate the amount of time and work put into this, but we also want to enjoy the meal without the...
Read moreA very beautiful restaurant, with below average service and chef. We have visited the restaurant because we spent a night in the hotel.
Prior to our visit (3 months in advance) we have signaled that one of us is suffering from multiple allergies.
As this is a gourmet restaurant, with highly priced dishes (no starter below 20€) we had high expectations. First the service was very kind, however after they’ve learnt that we don’t speak French, the head waitress became very inattentive and bad tempered.
Dishes were not well adjusted for the one of us suffering from allergies (e.g. elaborate sides were replaced with boiled potatoes).
Now the individual points are not too negative, however, when summing things ups and considering that we’ve spent more than 200€, one cannot wonder, why we have left with a bad taste.
Cannot recommend, based on our experience, visit at...
