The summary is that this was just.. strange. This could be nice for a drink or a snack. It appears however that many of the good reviews for the food pre-date the current management, which seems to have changed around February or March of this year. It is now self described as “bistronomic” and unfortunately ended up being my worst meal — not just on this trip, but through all my several month-long stays in France.
The food now is a bizarre attempt at creativity that bring you un-cohesive, strange dishes. The flavors were either nonexistent or plainly weird (tuna with vanilla?) that were unappetizing and presented strangely (think: brown beef tartare with giant carrot chunks? Tuna steaks that are cooked at temperatures that are too low and therefore looking like boiled beef??). On top of the unappetizing food, the service staff were quite standoffish when we complained and didn’t offer any remediation until the issue escalated.
Great views so this could be good for an aperitif, but the food leaves a lot to be desired. I wouldn’t recommend for...
Read moreThis place was unfortunate. We visited planning to go to the place next door (Des Rochers), but it was closed and we decided to try here instead. The host told us that there was a 1 hour wait for one of the 15 or so empty tables, and then was corrected so we could have a seat. We were then served the only bad meal we had in our 2 week France visit.
The oysters were about 75% missing the top half and the sauce was basically more salt water. The scallops were creatively plated, but was a handful of bites. It had a lot of flavors but not very complimentary (bitter turnip and warm grapefruit). Also the black place really highlighted the oil that was in the dish.
The whole place also smelled like the amuse bouche, which was some kind of tuna fish. Not bad to eat, but not great to smell the whole time you were there.
Visit Restaurant Des Rochers instead, you will not be...
