I have attempted to be fair with my review as the restaurant was at times pleasurable and the food 50/50. We ate here twice whilst staying nearby.
1st visit- The pizza was extremely oily but passably tasty on our first trip here. The service was slow but the staff were polite enough to us but audibly rude to other English speakers within the vicinity.
2nd visit- Seated quickly and offered a complimentary olive tapenade as an Entree. The waiter was then slightly rude when he rather ungracefully told me to “Wait, wait, wait” as I continued to give my order.
There was no pizza so we both had pasta, my partners was delicious but the sauce of my own was tasteless which was a shame as the prawns were delicious and had been deveined perfectly.
The reason though that the feeling of this place was so badly ruined was from a completely and unapologetically rude comment from the manager as she collected our plates.
“You should not put shells in a bread bowl, these are not for this, it is really not good”
“Oh I am sorry, I thought they’d all go to same basin to be washed”
“We’ll don’t worry, just so that you learn for the next restaurant you visit”
I apologised like the polite Englishman I am, however I observed that this comment was truly and utterly ridiculous when you consider they didn’t offer a finger bowl or empty bowl for the shells. In England I wouldn’t tolerate such a comment. Maybe it is she who should get lessons in etiquette before she tries to belittle someone in-front of...
Read moreEating out in Loches is quite complicated. Many restaurants do not serve food in the evening, and many are only open on certain days. Sforza seems fairly straight forward but they do stop serving at 9pm.
It's very easy going and relaxed. Although a "pizzaria" this is certainly not Pizza Hut or Dominos! Starters include Fritto Misto and Burratta, and most pizzas include generous lashing of fresh rocket. There are plenty of non-pizza choices also. The wine list is unusual as everything is the same price, 26 Euros or 5.50 per glass with plenty of choice.
The food is good, better than expected. the portions are substantial, and I advise against having a starter and main course each. Maybe share a starter between two. The starters make a nice little lunch.
The name Sforza is after the Duke of Milan who was imprisoned and died at the "Donjon" just up the road.
Recommended. It's ok but not wow, but it's also not...
Read morewe were passing by in Loches for the first time as a tourists, so we were looking for a fast pizza in a warm place for continuing our road.
So we stopped in Sforza by chance, and despite the pizzas at this restaurant are very good, it looks like they are struggling to survive, coz the fact that they want to add "taxes" to our bill in order be able to share the pizzas, it seems stingy to me, especially because there is nothing write or warning about this. so we've been pushed to order more food. the staff are ok.. but they are so in rush that is even difficult to choose well our order, cuz they expect that their diners have the same hurry as them. Se we finished our meal and we were...
