MIAM MIAM !! -- super délicieux. arrivez affamé, repartez rassasié. took myself out to brunch yesterday! had fun sitting at my own little table, with my little tin cups and ordering the big brunch. it was almost 2pm and i actually wasn’t even that hungry but i had seen photos of their full brunch and knew i had to go all-out. gah the bacon, the butter, the eggs, the pancakes... i was brought back to my good ol fashioned american ways, and i realized how long it had been. as i carried on, i was filling up quickly. feeling blissfully indulgent and foolish for ordering so much, it was only thanks to the impending threat of shame that i managed to finish my drinks (yes, even that was hard), eat 3/4 of the stack of pancakes (#proud) and half of the tartines and yogurt-granola (imma big girl, i don’t even like granola things). it took over an hour. it was during this personal resolution to finish the meal that i came to terms with the size of my stomach and have henceforth decided that, should i ever be on the amazing race, i am leaving the food challenges to my partner. strategically arranging my silverware and hoping that the generous crusts of tartines i left would be seen as negligible, i stood up from my table like an expectant mother and paid my bill. i waddled out of the building like a penguin, patting/rubbing my expanded belly and really, really wanting to laugh at myself for ordering so much but mostly just needing to curl up and sleep it off. 10/10, would go again. needless to say, i did not need to eat dinner last...

Easily my favourite place to grab brunch in Lyon. Their preset brunch menu (17.5 euros) for includes fresh pressed juice of the day, hot drinks, fresh bread + condiments, delicious homemade granola, and one main (also, 5 euros extra for mimosas - totally worth it). Keep in mind, the portions are very big so come on an empty stomach; the preset brunch menu is worth every euro. There is also an option to order à la carte - there are excellent classic brunch favorites on the menu from pancakes, to eggs, croque Monsieurs, and shakshouka to name a few. Le Desjeuneur is also vegetarian friendly and many dishes can be made to suit your dietary restriction (milk substitutes is also an option for drinks containing diary). Furthermore, the ambiance is great. The indoor seating is relatively comfortable and the outdoor seating (highly recommend on a nice summer-early autumn day) allows one to enjoy a beautiful view of Lyon. The service is excellent; very friendly, professional and down to Earth. Probably one of the the best service one can get in Lyon to be quite frank. Needless to say, I HIGHLY recommend this place, however, beware of the long queues because this place is very popular...
Read moreAs someone who loves a good brunch, Le Desjeuneur really hits all the right buttons! The food is constantly delicious, well seasoned with great ingredients and the portion sizes are fantastic, if not almost too large. Definitely come hungry! Their brunch special is perfect to share between two with the addition of another small plate. I confess I have never had room left to make it to a dessert, but I’ve head nothing but good things from those who have! They use a great coffee blend which is ideal for anything from an Americano to an espresso - they even do take away coffees. The staff are always lovely - they are nothing but polite even midway through a Sunday morning brunch rush. If you plan to come on a weekend, DEFINITELY come early! I’ve seen the wait for a table reach just shy of two hours! Even if you have to join a queue, do it! Walk around the marché just down the street to fill the time - It’ll...
