Le Lyon de L'Atlas — Restaurant in Lyon

I arrived in Lyon on Saturday afternoon. A lot of places seemed to closed but I went for a walk a discovered Le Lyon de l'Atlas open and a lovely lady who tough claiming not good English was far better then my non-existent French. She went through the menu with me and I decided on a selection of three courses from the set menu for 25€50 and two glasses of Cote de Rhone Merlot for 5€. My first course was Salad Lyonnaise which was a delight. The second course was Beef bavette (skirt/flank) steak with onions, green beans, mushrooms carrot and a side dish of vegetables (mashed potato topped with a beautifully spiced courgette/zucchini and carrot mix). The rich sauce brought all elements together and was a pleasure to eat. The third course was Chocolate fondant with creme anglaise, whipped cream and strawberry coulis meeting all ones expectations of sweet ending ending to a great meal. TL;DR: good food. We went to this restaurant without knowing it or reading the reviews about it before. When we entered, the waitress looked surprised to see people... We were the only ones in the restaurant which usually is not a good sign. The waitress was not really welcoming so we wondered if we hadn't made a bad choice. When the food came we realized that it was really good and tasty. All the meals were delicious, and the desserts too. Je vais commencé par un souvenir : Un couscous dans un restaurant du 7ème et soit disant un des meilleurs : Bon, copieux, semoule à volonté mais .... rien à voir avec le votre ! Avec du recul ... la semoule paraissait très fade par rapport à aujourd'hui et la viande plutôt sèche. Mon épouse vous a pris un couscous à emporter ce jour pour trois personnes : Hormi la viande nous en aurons encore pour demain niveau semoule et légumes. Concernant la semoule : Pas sèche du tout et un parfun divin ! Même froide elle est à tomber. Quand aux légumes et à la viande : Encore parfumés et excellents. Le poulet est hyper tendre, pas sec, pas filandreux du tout. Les boulettes sont faites maison et la merguez épicée juste ce qu'il faut et pas trop forte pour ceux qui craindraient le mouton.
