If you're looking for real authentic food, or if you are a Brazilian like me and want to have a taste of home when missing it, this is the place to go. They serve real Brazilian food with the great flavors and warmth that remind me of home. I recently visited this restaurant and had the pleasure of trying their picanha, coxinha, and caipirinha. The picanha was cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful with that signature smoky char that makes it a Brazilian favorite. The coxinha was delightfully crispy on the outside, giving way to a creamy and well-seasoned shredded chicken filling that took me back to the street food stalls of Brazil. And let's not forget the caipirinha, the quintessential Brazilian cocktail. It was expertly mixed, striking that perfect balance between zesty lime, refreshing sugar, and just the right amount of cachaça. Sipping on it was like a mini-vacation in itself. The ambiance of the restaurant was also a treat, with beautiful design, Latin music, and friendly staff that added to the overall experience. The restaurant was full and the staff were a bit overwhelmed, but they were friendly and caring all the time. If you're in the mood for a taste of Brazil that goes beyond the ordinary, this restaurant is a must-visit. From the succulent picanha to the nostalgic coxinha and the invigorating caipirinha, they've mastered the art of bringing a slice of Brazil to Marseille. Obrigado for the wonderful meal! 🇧🇷❤️

We booked this restaurant on reading the reviews and it was definitely worth visiting. The chef patron explained the dishes and his passion showed through when speaking about the food. We opted for the caipirinhas with mango which were a tad sweet but the lime helped cut through it. Starters were the Brazilian doughnuts and the veg gyozas. We tried the doughnuts as they are a house speciality and they were fresh and flavour. Mains were the signature sushi burger and the prawn red curry. Portion sizes were generous and the quality of ingredients used were first class. The salmon tataki was well marinaded and served in good sized pieces. Our palate would have preferred a little more spice in all dishes but that is a very personal opinion. Be sure to visit if ever in Marseilles

This restaurant is my favourite ever across all of France. The quality of the food, friendly chef and family run, atmosphere is all incredible and there is nothing to fault. We stumbled in here and were able to find a table for two. Then the chef came out and helped us choose what to order based on his recommendations which was very helpful. When the food came out it was all exceptional and very delicious. The sushi burger stood out to me because of the flavours, the quality of the sashimi and the innovation of the dish! The picamha was cooked to our liking and cooked to perfection, all the elements on this dish were excellent. We also got the coximas and the iced tea! I would highly recommend Aux Antipodes to anyone who likes food.

Answer to the restaurant owners comment: As I said the service was nice, nothing to complain about that, except that it was slow at times but we were a large group hence not an issue. Additionally, I did not complain about the ingredients like salad or beans itself, but about the preparation style of the starter and the picanha, not seasoned, tasteless and the meat chewy. Furthermore, the cheviche was sour as hell and had no other seasons, how about using some herbs, e.g. coriander? To be fair, I disclose the total bill which was 265€ for 7 persons including: 7 mains ( 3 picanhas (each 28€), 3 bowls (20€ each), 1 sushi burger (~22€)), 2 Starters (12€ each), 4 wine and 4 beer (wine 4.5€ and beer about 5€), 4 Caipirinha (9€) and 1 dessert (on the house), 7 limoncello (on the house). I removed the recommendations of other restaurants.

We visited the restaurant with a group of seven and were lucky to get a nice table outside. The drinks were all good and the service was friendly although very very slow.

In total they had 4 different main dishes on the menu. I can recommend the poke bowl dishes (18€ with chicken, €20 with salmon), these were excellent. The other dishes on the menue were salmon sushi burger (~€22) and a brazilian fish stew (€22). The picanha (28€) steak slices were chewy as hell and the dish itself was not well prepared, salad sauce underwhelming, some plain rice, some yucca and some beans, very disappointing. Also the starter (mixed starter for €12) was a small piece of sausage, a terribly sour cheviche and a lot of fried stuff with some asian sweet and sour sauce you get in every cheap to go restaurant.

Admittedly, the service was very very nice when we complained about the picanha (3 of us had the same experience) and offered us a new plate, a dessert or coffee. Nevertheless, the excuse for the terrible meat was "we do not know whether the meat is good until we serve it" that sounds highly unprofessional to me. Similarly, do not expect to get a proper bill, it is just a really messy sheet of paper where they write down everything by hand.

Overall, I would say the restaurant is overrated at 4.7*, I would say a 4.0 would...

Great independent restaurant, but with a few places for improvement. Owner was extremely friendly and very passionate . He spoke English Spanish and French, made everyone feel very welcome. Starters were great, however service was very slow, we also had an issue with both our mains, far too salty, and we were waiting at least 10 minutes for someone to come ask us if our meals were okay. Eventually the owner spotted us, came over and resurrected the issue and even thanked us for letting him know. The replacement meals were excellent. After our dishes were collected we were asked if we wanted dessert, we were told the dessert options which sounded great and we were excited to try, but after 10 minutes nobody came over to ask us what we wanted, we thought it’s best time we leave. Seems like maybe they were under staffed today, which is a shame as it did kind of let down the experience as a whole, however the service when you got it was great. Really enjoyed the fusion of cuisines but can’t say I’ll be rushing back with the long wait times, but if we are in the area again I’ll give the place a...
