Le Scampi Marseillan Plage — Restaurant in Montpellier

Visited for my 60th birthday. Shocking presentation and tasteless. From sitting down and ordering two dishes, a sea bream and a scallop dish the food was on the table within less than 5 mins. That immediately suggested it wasn't freshly cooked. I was correct. The fish was laid on top of leek in a watery cream sauce which had been simmering for hours and lost all taste. My fish was raw and inedible so returned to be replaced, but received the same fish dripping in oil after being dropped in a fryer and now too rubbery to enjoy. The scallops I think were boiled and had no caremelisation or taste. A rice side was crisp on top and cold below, the fries had been pre cooked and left standing in grease before being reheated and were greasy and soggy. A piece of orange and melon? served as a salad. We spoke to the waiter with our complaints, who removed our uneaten plates and asked if we wanted desserts! 70 euros spent in 10 mins start to finish. Well presented restaurant with a good menu. However....a big blind spot on gluten free. I am coeliac, travel extensively and have always "found a way". "Are any of your pizzas gluten free, I am coeliac." "No" Fair enough. Went for a chicken salad. Salad arrives: breaded chicken. Waiter comes to clear away the dishes and asks if everything was ok, possibly noting all the breaded chicken on the side plate. Went through the fact that the menu stated "chicken," but I was presented was breaded chicken. Pointed out the significance for a coeliac. He was pleasant and seemed to get it after making sure he understood the term coeliac and it's implications. Went to pay ( my husband, who is not coeliac had a pizza and we both had a drink). The chef appeared and was simply biligerent: you ordered chicken, you got chicken. His attitude was just unpleasant and ill-informed so I refused to pay for the salad. Moral of the story....if you are coeliac, take great care at this...

Visited this restaurant after spending a day at the beach with my family. Everything about the meal was fantastic, the service and attention the staff gave us all made us feel very welcome. The food was the best of the whole holiday by a long way at this point, so good in fact that we returned the following week after another day at the beach and I have to say the food was even better the second time around! I had the mussels the first time and the tuna the second ( medium rare ) and it was the nicest piece of fish I have ever eaten. I would recommend this restaurant very...
