To-Ly Traiteur - Gare — Restaurant in Montpellier

We discovered this tiny jewel while spending a pleasant week in Montpellier. It's small, with only a few small inside tables, and another half dozen or so outside, but it quickly becomes apparent that "take away" is the restaurants "bread and butter" with a steady stream of locals arriving to order delicious, ready to go, faire. In addition to great Pho it offers an amazingly wide variety of fantastic spring rolls, fresh rolls, samosas, noodles, curries and other surprises loaded with fresh meats, fish, or vegetables. We ate there three times, and could easily have done so another week without having the same thing twice, amazing for a place this size, all at very reasonable prices.

The soul of the kitchen is the mother of the family, a charming woman who speaks melodic French as well as Vietnamese, cooking constantly from before opening hours right through into evening to keep up with demand. The public face of the business is a young man named Kevin, who is multi-lingual in five languages having worked and studied abroad returning to develop and grow the business. Friendly and outgoing, we engaged in several enjoyable conversations.

Perhaps the most unusual thing to rave about is the home made hot sauce which is both fiery (unless you are the fire-breathing type, use sparingly - you have been warned) and absolutely delicious. While all the fare stands perfectly well without it, if you are a fan of heat you're in...

A fuir impérativement. Le riz, les pattes, le poulet, les crevettes étaient avarier et pourris avec une odeur de moisissure à vomir. La note de 4 de ce restaurant s'explique car le restaurateur crée des faux profils (seule explication possible. Si vous regardez bien les avis ou c'est 1 ou c'est 5. Après un 1, on n'a ensuite une note de 5 qui nous explique que c'est une tuerie le restaurant. C'est fake leur note). J'ai rendu l'intégralité de la nourriture au restaurant et demandé le remboursement à Délivero. Si dans les 10 jours je n'ai pas de remboursement, j'envoi une LRAR au restaurant car en 2020 on ne peut pas vendre de la nourriture à jeter aux gens pour obtenir de l'argent facilement. Même à mon chien je ne servirai pas leur plat. La restauratrice à reconnu que les produits étaient enfermés trop longtemps puis finalement à accusé le livreur de lenteur, or le pauvre a mis précisément 9 min à me livrer. J'ai saisi la DDPP car une personne fragile peut en mourir. Une association de consommateur sera aussi saisie ainsi que la mairie. Ce restaurant doit impérativement fermer et par principe ( pour sauver des vies et éviter aux gens de perdre leur argent), je suis prête à envoyer autant de mails et de LRAR pour que le restaurant fasse l'objet d'un contrôle sanitaire. C'est la première fois que je laisse un avis. Le restaurant doit réagir rapidement pour ne pas avoir un mort sur la conscience. Le déni ne fait...

Food was delicious and authentic, and Kevin was so incredibly helpful, kind, and welcoming. He helped us find a hotel in an emergency situation and calmed us down, while offering a safe place to chat and eat and get our mind off of the situation. He had a wonderful sense of humor and gave us great local advice, and my family and I are extremely grateful to him (and his mother for the delicious food she makes!).
