Verdict - 4/5 (see below for details) A really lovely little seafood restaurant. Nice seaside vibes with well cooked, fresh seafood and tasty, affordable, local wines. Not top quality by any stretch of the imaginable but solid and enjoyable.
Food - 4/5 The food at Huitres et Compagnie is delicious and fresh! This was our final meal after a week in Gruissan. We had been craving some good lobster and when get got the whole cooked lobster au parsley here we were not disappointed. Juicy, well cooked, meaty, delicious lobster. We also went for the lemon sole which was massive and cooked to perfection. The succulent white meat just falling off the bone. After a week eating amazing French fries, we found that the wedges here were disappointing and the creamy risotto that came with the lemon sole was an odd addition to the dish and pretty flavourless. We think this could have been improved with some more herbs and maybe some white wine flavour. A more marinere style rather than basic cream with parmesan on top. All in all, really nice though.
Drinks - 4/5 Tasty, fresh local wines at decent prices. This is what French drinks lists should be about. Inexpensive, glasses and pichets of good quality local wines. We tasted all of the whites which were good.
Value for Money - 4/5 Good value for money. We walked away spending just over €50 a head for two people and we felt pleased with that given the quality and also quantity offered. The good value local wines really helped here. We think the whole lobster at €36 is decent value too.
Service - 4/5 Very efficient friendly service. Our French isn't incredible and there was no English spoken but when the service is as friendly and accommodating as this, it isn't a problem.
Atmosphere - 4.5/5 We loved the atmosphere here. The little marina side restaurant is full of wooden furniture and a sailing theme with boat artifacts and nets and the like. A word away from some of the plasticy restaurants and bars nearby. The restaurant was about 3/4 full and so there was a good buzz about the place. And as much as I like the band, not sure about the all night Red Hot Chilli...

Read moreRelied on Google Maps to find this restaurant and check its menu and hours of operation. It looked great and we wanted to try it. We then walked 1km to go there for dinner during its posted Google open hours on a Tuesday, only to arrive at the restaurant to discover that it is closed for the evening. We were so disappointed that they couldn’t be bothered to update their hours for guests so I give them a one star review for the lack of communication effort. Recommendation to others is to call ahead to see if they are open before going. To be fair their food and service might be great, but we...
