La Petite Brassiere is an absolute gem in the charming town of Gruissan. It's run by a husband and wife (the husband takes orders and helps the customers while the wife does the cooking!). The husband was especially sweet and helpful despite our lack of French.
We ordered the charcuterie to start, followed by prawns served with tagliatelle and the fish burger. All three dishes were superb, and the prawns were the freshest we've had in Europe! The fish burger comprised a tasty and unique combination of flavours, whilst our young kids had a juicy beef burger and frites and fish and frites (both of which were cooked to a very high standard). We ordered ice cream for dessert which we loved but it was a difficult choice as ALL the options looked incredible.
Most amazingly, the dishes were not overly expensive despite the excellent quality.
The location of the restaurant, which sits on a street corner, was also ideal. We luckily enjoyed some live music by a local band that marched through the streets.
Overall, we had an exquisite experience in terms of service, quality of food, and ambience. It's definitely our best meal in...
Read moreVery dissapointed on the lack of customer service. Had to wait for a very long time to be seated and for them to finally take the order. They also disregarded the fact that we asked to be seated outside, they told us to sit inside although there were empty clean tables outside. By the time they took our order we only wanted coffe and desserts but they replied that is not possible as I quote they said: "in France you have to order an entreé and a main dish to be able to order a dessert"... After all this nonsense we just grabbed out things and left disappointed on the time wasted on this place. A normal place would ask you from the beginning if you are there to eat or drink... I am guessing that only drinking is also not allowed. I would not recommend to visit this place... No wonder there are almost no photos of the desserts from this place, they looked nice but not worth all...
Read moreAn amazing restaurant on a pedestrian only street serving fresh and delightful seafood. The two servers who tended our table were SO nice and helpful with our limited French capabilities.
I felt it was very reasonably priced for the quality of food, freshness, ambiance, and service! I can only hope to return to Gruissan and also La Petite Brasserie one...
