We’ve visited this restaurant many times over the last 20 years in all of its guises over that period.

It’s developed a lot to cater for a changing market over that period. I think that our favourite period was 2017-18.

In its current it form, in our opinion, it runs 17/18 close with the introduction of a ‘happy hour’ a masterstroke which of course draws people in with the lure of 50% off drinks between 6.30 and 8pm making the price of the wine almost as competitive as if you bought direct from the local vineyard - or indeed the local cave. However, the economics make good sense..

Irrespective of the above, the combination of good reasonably priced wine, superb ambience and the menu offered is very attractive.

We visited twice over June and July and found the experience very enjoyable for all of the above reasons.

Amongst our group, the Salade Nicoise and Salade Cesar were both enjoyed very much and good value.

On both occasions I opted for the tapas, selecting the Gravelax and Pan con tomate which were superb and just about the right quantity, excellent value at E9 and E5 respectively.

The venue is very popular and so I would recommend booking to avoid disappointment.

We will certainly be re-visiting when next in the area to enjoy all of the above and would...

Very good start. Good service in the beginning. Sommelier came with good advice. The starter (ceviche) was very good. We ordered lamb chops and salmon for main course. The salmon was fine, the lamb consisted mainly of fat and bone. When I complained to the owner I was told the lamb was lousy this year! How about reducing the price? The sommelier did not return to serve the wine he had recommended. Nor did we receive the glass of wine we had ordered on the,side. We ordered coffee and one dessert. My coffee was spilled on the saucer accompanied by a cookie (swimming in the coffee). When this was pointed out I received a new coffee but no cookie. We have dined douzens of times at La Peniche and Tonneliers in years gone by, so this was soooo...

What a transformation! We visited a few times, years ago when we first moved to the area and it was decent but just OK... The new(ish) owners have breathed life into the place - beautiful garden, plenty of space, great service and good food. We turned up 15 mins before closing on a Sunday and were genuinely welcomed for a lazy family late lunch. Highly recommended and set to become a regular destination...
