After having eaten here for the first time this afternoon, I was quite shocked by the experience to befall me. After having chosen a pizza from the extensive menu I asked the server if he not put the fresh tomatoes on the pizza. The server scoffed at this request saying that the pizza simply contained tomatoes. After reluctantly accepting, he took our order. My mom received her order at least ten minutes before mine (the menu of the day - fish in almond sauce). This order was cold. My pizza arrived later on and was very clearly frozen. The pastry was burnt round the edges and hard/crispy all around (the texture of a dr. oetker pizza). There was still pieces of tomato on it though most had indeed been removed. Not one word was addressed to us while serving the pizzas even though we politely said thank you each time. There was also a soggy lump of mushrooms that had been added on top meaning that the centre of the pizza had the texture of soggy bread while the exterior tasted burned. I honestly find it shocking to serve a frozen pizza with emmental cheese so close to the Italian border, but on top of this they managed to mess up the cooking of a frozen pizza. This coupled with the poor service made for one the worst overall restaurant experiences I can remember. I will not be setting foot in the restaurant again and I would recommend to stay away - there are many other places in Nice that serve good food!
Update: After having read the response from Mr. Galera, I find it quite unfortunate that such offense seems to have been taken at my honest, albeit negative, review. In order to give a fuller appreciation of the restaurant, I should mention the fact that the restaurant is very well located and despite the awful service from the waiter in charge of our table, there was a young lady working at the restaurant who was very friendly and whose presence we appreciated very much (I hope this can be transmitted to her!). This does not, however, make up for the awful service and food we personally received. I can appreciate the fact that others may have had positive experiences here and left positive reviews. I can only speak from my own experience. Having worked in kitchens and restaurants myself, it saddens me that this sort of criticism cannot be taken more constructively. Instead, the rude and insulting words that were addressed to me in this response seem to suggest a lack of care for the experience of its customers. Although I can appreciate the comedic value of such an excessive and misplaced response, I do not appreciate being told I have an "innate feeling for harm", a "malevolant imagination", nor a "sly character". This is no way to respond to any customer's disatisfactions. I would think that by reading this response, the level of customer service at Casa Nissa becomes pretty obvious, but what can I say? I hope you can one day come to learn from the criticism you receive as I do not wish anyone to undergo the particularly poor service and uncomfortable experience we personally received. Bonne...
Read moreI had a very interesting experience here. Im here on vacation for a few weeks and I just returned from Monaco and wanted something to eat near where I was staying. Casa Nissa looked closed , so I went next door to the restaurant on the right closer to Place Massina. I can’t remember the name Of it . The kebab restaurant gave me my food in a to go bag, but I ate there . I had a kebab with frites was amazing. I ate everything. There was nothing to take with me ! ( I didn’t see a trash can ( all outside eating ) so I leave with my trash bag to take it to the trashcan that’s left out at night on Rue Giofreddo. I walk a little and stop here , outside of Casa Nissa to look for my key. It’s after 11pm/ 21:00 at night and I wanted to get my key out of my bag where there was light . I find my key and a man comes out of the restaurant and he’s speaking to me in French . I can understand a little French, but asked him ( in French ) if we could speak in English! And to my surprise ( not really. Nothing surprises me anymore ) he says you took something off the table ?. I was like what ? ( the restaurant is closed , the tables are clear. What is on the table that I can take , a salt shaker ?!? I was like, sir, I was looking for my key. The bag from the kebab place was full of trash. And he kept insisting , give it back! Give back what you took. Im tired and Im here on vacation and I tell him to leave me alone . I also told him don’t disrespect me and accuse me of stealing . I don’t need anything from this table. I don’t say that out of arrogance , but just as a matter of fact . He tries to snatch my bag telling me to “ give it back” The bag is full of trash . I also had my purse with my personal belongings . On principle alone, I wouldn’t let this man who didn’t see me take anything ( made an assumption) that I took something . Sir, you can look at camera footage, but you do not have the right to touch anything on me. He made me feel pretty unsafe because he was so angry and very close to me. I’m here visiting from the United States. I saw a review from another woman of color who didn’t have a pleasant experience . Maybe that’s why he thought I took something from the empty table at a closed restaurant. I won’t let that disrupt my trip. Everything else here in the French Riviera has...
Read moreFirst the good points, Casa Nissa has a good website and we were greeted and seated quickly. When we were seated, there were only a few customers in the restaurant and we were the only customers on the second floor. Now for the bad, the food was subpar at best. I ordered the tapas plate, and at best, it was underwhelming. Most of my items were served to me cold. Example: Spanish tortilla = cold, Chicken wings with spices and honey = cold (also rubbery skin with no spice). My wife's first course, L’onion soup, was closer to ordinary chicken soup. Then the real problem began, no more of my wife's courses arrived. After 45 mins, I had to ask the waiter (who had not checked on us) about the rest of my wife's order. The waiter shrugged his shoulders and indicated that they were busy. Which is odd, because, it wasn't when we arrived. While we waited, we observed surrounding tables receiving their orders. Our second floor table did allow us to watch the waitstaff, below us on the first floor, eat their meals, (which must have been nice for them). When the waiter returned, he informed us "3 minutes". While time passed, he returned again later and informed us "3 minutes". My wife eventually received her second course coalfish (pollack) with green beans, which in all fairness, she said was a solid average. Then the hostage crisis began (never saw said waiter again). After my wife finished her second course, we waited and waited for her dessert course (it never arrived). Deciding that our options were to wait for GIGN or Delta Force to come rescue us from this hostage situation, we decided to surrender. I tracked down the manager and asked to pay our bill, so we could leave. This is when he informed me that we hadn't received our dessert course yet. Thanks. He did offer to have us pay full price for the food we...
