Small, cute coffee shop that had no croissants or other typical bakery items found in Nice, which is good for a change. After reading the reviews, I went there to try their coffee, and also to sample some of their home-made baked goods but, unfortunately, only three items (plus some cookies) were available when I went there soon after they opened. I was recommended the apple and date cake, which I found to be dense, a bit dry, and also tasted a little burnt. It was also not cheap. The cappuccino with oat milk (which was good) and the slice of cake cost about 10 euros. Good place for those especially looking for gluten-free items, but probably best not to go early in the morning if you want...
Read moreIt’s hard to find coffee around here. The owner has his two kids working there it seems. They bought a retrofitted hand pull and don’t know how to use it. I saw the young lady make a mess behind the counter; it seemed she was high and overwhelmed. She did not clean the steam wand and watching her tamp was scary. What a mess. Along with the maze of poor food in the area, the result left us thinking hotel coffee is a safer choice in the morning.
As a Slovakian barista in Paris said, “it’s amazing the French can care so much about food and then end the meal with such awful coffee.” Le country story is a fine example of that.
