66 Degrés — Restaurant in Périgueux

I stopped by in Perigueux during a long drive to the south of France with my girlfriend and it was the only restaurant that would accomodate us at the time we arrived (9PM). The restaurant is very quaint, with an open kitchen from which wonderful smells eminated. The host was very attentive and explained the menu in detail and offered excellent wine suggestions. The menu changes every month and only contains a few items which is a good sign regarding the fact that the ingredients used to prepare our food were fresh. Despite the 6 choices of mains, it was very hard to decide on what to pick as the menu seemed very well curated. I opted for a foie gras and echourgnac ravioli for starters with duck magret as a main while my girlfriend chose vegetarian options, specifically the echourgnac pastry fingers and mushroom risotto. We had such a wonderful meal here! The proprietor, Phillipe, is an excellent host. He explained each dish on the menu to us (in English!) and they all sounded delicious. Then he helped us select some local wines to enjoy with our lunch. Each dish was spectacular, and my partner was able to enjoy a vegetarian French meal that rivaled the meat dishes! 24 mars 23, je cherchais un restau végétarien, 66° l'est aussi, mais pas que, moi non-plus. J'ai goûté le boudin, excellent ! Le cabillaud, succulent ! Le dessert : crème brûlée au Vieux Lille, un dessert avec un fromage fort, faut oser ! Il l'ont fait. C'est une incroyable expérience. Philippe, le patron te prévient, c'est spécial, mais de mon avis, c'est super bon ! Ils sont passionnés dans cette boutique. Ils connaissent super bien leurs produits, les préparations, les différents avis des clients, ce sont de grands pros qui ne travaillent qu'avec du frais ou du très frais. La simplicitude apparente cache un professionnalisme profond. On est reçu comme chez des amis, mais c'est grand toqué. Ils ne se la racontent pas, ils créent du bon, du bonheur, dans le cadre, dans l'accueil, dans le verre et les assiettes. C'est idéal pour les esprits ouverts à la découverte, la nouveauté, l'original, le hors sentiers battus. Chance ! C'est là, maintenant. Pour le vin, la carte est inter-active. Philippe te fait accoucher de tes goûts et te sort un truc que t'aurais jamais trouvé par toi-même. Laisse toi faire par le guide, il sait où t'emmener pour te rendre heureux. Maintenant, je sais qu'ils existent et ça donne des ailes....
