As I speak no French - I had one of those terrifying phone calls where one tries to book and is not sure whether the host has understood anything one has said. So - what a delight that not only was our reservation recorded correctly - the manager also remembered me and was very welcoming.
The restaurant is in the heart of the old town - looking across the moat at the castle walls - so - from the perspective of location - perfect. Great parking just across the road. We found the menu extensive and were grateful that it was provided in English. We were all pleased with our mains - which were filling and interesting. The staff at Le Bistrot d'Antoine were very kind, friendly and attentive. The menu kept to French traditions, which was excellent. A small restaurant tucked away in a quiet corner. In context, Peronne is an excellent, quieter alternative to the usual Western Front night stops of Ypres, Arras and Amiens. The Peronne WW1 museum is a fine partner to the Thiepval memorial and I do hope they offer more on the town's experience of the Franco Prussian War, which was part of the problems in the Treaty of Versailles.
