This is a formal complaint regarding the entire staff who were working the final shift at the McDonalds at Terminal 4 in Orly Airport outside of Paris France on Sunday January 14,2024.
My family and I (5 persons total - my wife,3 adult children, and myself) arrived outside the restaurant at around 9 pm that day after a long trip involving driving from the French Alps to Geneva and a plane journey from Geneva to Orly. I went inside the restaurant to ask what time they were open until and was told they were open until 9:30 pm (which is what is written on the website). I then went downstairs to get the rest of my family and we arrived at the restaurant order desk about 1 minute later.
The first thing I clearly heard from one of the young white female employees speaking to her co-workers was: "O, putain, y'en a des autres." (Please note that I was born in Paris and grew up in Geneva and I speak French well enough to know what that means.) Then, a young black male employee behind the counter addressed me and told me that the restaurant was closed. When I told him that I had just been informed less than 3 minutes earlier that they were open until 9:30 pm (another 25 minutes) he first reiterated that they were closed. When I complained again, he stated that it was "une blague" (a joke) and that they were indeed open.
I forcefully pointed out to him that I did not think that this was at all funny, and my family and I left in disgust without ordering anything.
I have been in multiple McDonalds all over France over the past 50 years or so and I have NEVER been treated like this. This is absolutely disgraceful. Having run a business myself I can tell you that the appropriate response would be to fire everyone on that shift immediately. Note that all the other employees present at the time who said nothing were effectively complicit in this shameful act of customer DIS-service.
Of note is that since January 14, 2024 I contacted the complaints department at McDonalds France on multiple occasions, both my mail and email. To date - almost 3 months - I have received NO RESPONSE. For a company that purports to be all about customer service, this is outrageous

Read moreOrdered a double bacon cheese burger meal and paid extra for the bacon cheese fries, burgers together were the size of a kids burger in the UK and the fries came plain, if I hadnt noticed they would not have said anything. When i went to the counter they just said they dont have the cheese as if that was fine even though over the 2 meals we paid an extra €5 (this is the price of a better size meal in any other mcdonalds) they expected me to go ok and walk away. I had to remind them i paid extra twice before they tried to offer me a burger as way of apology. I asked for my money back which admitedly I did get returned. If you dont have something in stock especially if you charge extra for it then dont offer it or at least attempt to be decent human beings and rectify it without the customer having to come complain. As another reviewer said (and im sure a lot more will say the same) go anywhere else and probably save money...

I saw that the drink I ordered had been in the counter for a long time. Still, they pointed at me and shouted me to go over there and wait. It was shameful. I received it only after all my food had cooled and my drinks had warmed up. I asked them to exchange it for a new one, but they whispered among themselves (Wait a minute, I'll ask the manager if this is old." "Manager, is this old?" "No, it's not old." "It's not old, so you can't change it.") and didn't change it. I experienced racial discrimination as an Asian. I never want to come to a store like this again. They seem to enjoy playing like children. There is a manager, but he ignores this problem. They told me "I don't speak Chinese", even though I kept speaking English. It's enough to ruin my last memories of Paris. They are using childish high school pranks to make business and I can't stand watching that. We need to stop them from doing the same to other Asians.
