Le Forty One — Restaurant in Paris

My wife and I are visiting Paris and wanted a good dinner -- reasonably priced -- with French cuisine. So glad we found this place!! Excellent beer and wine list; I had a glass of sparkling champagne, but could have gone for a big draft beer. We split a good salad that had greens, tomatoes, hunks of blue cheese, prosciutto, hard-boiled egg and a tasty dressing. Main course was grilled rib steaks with french fries and a wonderful bearnaise sauce -- so good I had to tell my wife about the chapter in "A Moveable Feast" when Hemingway enjoys this same meal. Unfortunately, I had a bad experience here. I ordered a burger, medium well. When my order arrived, I picked up the burger and it fell apart immediately, and when I took a bite, it was raw inside.

I notified the waiter, and asked for a different meal or to just send it back and leave, but they insisted they remake it and I obliged. But they didn’t event remake it, they must have just put it in the microwave because I received the same sloppy mess back, the meat more cooked, but the burger unchanged.

I thought they would at least comp my meal or offer a discount, but they made me pay full price for a terrible meal.

The staff were friendly, but it really doesn’t make up...

We got to Paris really late and most places were closed/ closing down but the staff here were so lovely and accommodating. They sensed we were tourists - laid down a table and served us two yummy omelettes. Didn’t bother rushing us.

I would recommend this place for lovely - warm service, friendly staff and good portions too!

Thank you for making us feel so welcome on our first night in Paris....
