Komptoir, How I love thee.

I first found you in January of '08 whilst my cousin and I were in Paris for the weekend, and you derailed us from our trip to the Centre Pompidou because you were just that fun!

When I came back last month, I actually made it to the Centre Pompidou with my husband, but was so happy to see you were alive and kicking (and doing quite well, I might add!)

Our waitress was fantastic! She spoke only French but my minimal garbled French worked well enough to understand she was telling us we were too early for dinner, but there at the perfect time to be amazed by the tapas - Emmental cheese boards! I ordered both the Pain emmental au poulet (emmental with chicken) and the Pain emmental aux tomates séchées et basilic (dried tomatoes & basil) - both of which were fantastic and truly hit the spot. Delicious!

The star of the night was the club sandwich (poulet, salade, tomate, œuf, mayonnaise) (chicken, and the rest is pretty obvious;)

I have never tasted a sandwich like this in my life! To me it tasted like fantastically spiced chicken on some kind of almost-Caesar-salad-like dressing, and all in all was just great! It's fine if you call me crazy, but this was amazing!

The house wine, and my husband's beer, were also fantastic. And the people-watching even inside the restaurant was not to be dismissed.

Another amazing thing I have to point out - while Komptoir is really close to the Pompidou (and thus many other tourist spots) it was full of locals!

I loved it here. If I ever move to Paris, I will be here far too often. The price points are reasonable, and the atmosphere is chill while still being fun.

Attention à l'arnaque de la Saint Valentin ! J'y suis allé avec ma femme pour diner hier soir le 14/2 , on a appelé pour réserver , par malchance , on a trouvé que la table qui nous a été réservée était dans la partie extérieure du restaurant là où il fait vraiment froid et le vent soufflait tout le temps . il y avait 3 serveuses , 2 très gentilles et une pas du tout agréable ; c'est elle qui est venue s'occuper de nous. On voulait commander 2 menu "saveurs" à 24,90 en plus des boissons commandées déjà. Elle nous a dit : " Non on ne fait pas de menu ce soir même si c'était marqué sur la carte" - Et pourquoi madame ? - " Pas de menu pendant les week-ends et les fêtes ! Et aujourd'hui c'est la Saint Valentin , c'est une fête !" on a dit Ok et on a pris 2 plats à la carte à 17 euros le plat ( le menu était vraiment plus copieux ( Entrée + plat + dessert ) Sachant qu'on n'est pas sûr que la Saint Valentin est considérée comme une fête ! ...Sauf que plus tard on a réalisé que nos voisins de tables , qui ont eu les autres serveuses , ont bien pu commander les mêmes menus qu'on voulait avoir ..J'ai demandé des explications à notre serveuse qui nous a répondu sèchement que c'est le premier jour des autres serveuses , et elles ne connaissent pas encore le fonctionnement ..On a exprimé notre mécontentement ...On a demandé qu'elle fasse au moins un geste commercial c'est pas normal d'avoir un service différent des voisins , elle a dit je vous offre les cafés , et puis elle était encore plus désagréable et pressée à nous voir partir ...elle faisait des aller-retours ...et quand on est partis , elle a lancé un Au-revoir très sec avec un ouf de soulagement qu'elle n'a pas pu cacher !! Je mets en ligne le tciket de caisse , parce que certes on lui a réclamé un geste commercial mais c'était tout à fait de notre droit d'avoir le même service que les autres . D'ailleurs les prix ne sont pas aussi raisonnables que ça ..un verre de vin rouge de 2017 de 25cl est à 5,90 euros .. 6,90 euros une bouteille d'eau !! Donc je déconseille d'y aller ...même si je risque de nager à contre-courant ...mais on peut trouver beaucoup mieux à 3 mn...

On Valentine's day, my husband and I decided to travel to Paris in order spent a great time there. Thanks to the Guide Michelin, we found out about Basilic & Spice since we both love Thai food. Basilic & Spice is definitely an excellent restaurant which offer delicious food. You will definitely be impressed by the decor as soon as you step in the restaurant since it was probably one of the finest dining establishment Ive ever seen with my husband.. Moreover, the staff was super welcoming and show us hospitality which I believe make a real a difference with others restaurant.. Thank you for this amazing Valentine's day diner at your place.
