Any vegetarian only restaurant that survives in South West France is a testament to food it serves. Located opposite the antiques market close to the centre of Pau, there is paid parking close by but on Friday and Saturday when the market is open parking may be more of a challenge, however, municipality parking is only 15 mins slow walk to the restaurant. This is a small cozy venue, wood and art decoration with some outside seating but not the best of views outside. The ambience inside was lovely with great background music (Nina Simone style) not too loud and quite busy for a French National holiday. Because it was a bank holiday the menu was limited, understandably. However, in my case that was a bonus as a certified meat lover I probably wouldn’t have known what to choose anyway! The set menu comprised a main of small dishes not tapas style but a tasting plate of salad, soup, fritter and a ragout of chickpeas and other veg. A bottle of local Jurancon dry white wine topped the meal off. Desert was a slice of fruit tart and coffee a la France. We will have to revisit this venue to experience the whole menu and sincerely hope to upgrade the rating to 5 star as the service (English speaking too) was great but without choice we were restricted. Worth a visit but make a reservation as I’m sure it would fill up quickly on normal...
