Hippopotamus Steakhouse — Restaurant in Perpignan

The service was terrible, I understand that there was quite a lot of guests but it is not an excuse for a terrible service, I for one work on the industry but standard is a mantra in the industry. After my fiancé and I ordered, I was really waiting for the water to be served as per SOP in the industry or even be served the moment the waiter handed out the menu but it didn't come until 10mins later and was served together with my fiancé's mojito without a straw, so as an avid drinker of a fiancé that I have, she asked the waiter where is the straw, the waiter only answered no straw, so I went to the bar and asked for a straw and I got the same answer, so my girlfriend and I decided to cancel our order and left without the mojito being touched and we only paid for the water since we have the right to reject goods that is not up to standard and unconsumable since the mojito has lots of ice( you never serve mojito full to the brim of the glass unless you serve with a straw). When we left the waiter chased us and asked why we only paid the water and we explained and even got threatened to be reported to the police.

You need to train your people on proper service that is up to standard and never treat customers inappropriately especially if your guests works in the same industry as your restaurant and a single bad review can compound more bad reviews and outweigh...

Je suis allée y manger lundi 21 juin au soir avec mon copain, (arrivés à 20h30) à première vue serveurs/serveuses et patron très accueillant et agréable. Nous commandons le plus rapidement possible car nous avons faim, la serveuse vient et prend notre commande pour les boissons l'entrée et le plat. Nous prenons 2 menus à 19,90€ (menu complet avec entrée plat dessert et boisson), on prend un coca pour lui et un cocktail pour moi, en entrée on prend les œufs mayo et en plat on voulait se laisser tenter par la surprise de bœuf mais la serveuse nous dit qu'il n'y en a plus alors on se rabat sur le burger hippo. Jusque là, tout se passe normalement, il y a pas mal de monde donc on fume tranquillement en attendant. La serveuse nous apporte les boissons, super : Cocktail très bon, vraiment juste je dirais que la vodka a été oubliée mais bon soit. On attend, on attend pour l'entrée, entre temps un serveur vient à notre table et nous apporte des wings (poulets) alors que ce n'est pas du tout notre commande... Nous l'appelons pour lui signaler qu'il s'est trompé et il le reprend, nous attendons toujours l'entrée quand enfin elle arrive, une petite assiette ronde avec 3 œufs dedans et de la mayo dessus (pour les gros mangeurs vous allez être déçus) mais bon, c'était bon quand même je ne peux pas dire le contraire. Une fois l'entrée finie, on vient nous débarrasser et nous attendons le plat. On attend, on attend et on attend encore, on fume, on regarde les gens autour et on voit que pour les autres clients c'est la catastrophe aussi, beaucoup d'attentes et d'erreurs dans les commandes. Le plat arrive : Nous avions commandé un burger hippo avec frites et sauce roquefort. La serveuse arrive avec un plat de poulet, on lui dit qu'on a pas commandé ça, elle s'excuse mais nous demande quand même si on est pas intéressé par un poulet... On lui dit non, elle repart. Quelques minutes plus tard elle revient avec un burger hippo (et là on se dit enfin !) alors un burger hippo avec des légumes cuits et sauce ketchup. On lui dit encore une fois qu'elle s'est trompée, elle me laisse le burger, enlève les légumes, repart et me ramène ma sauce roquefort.. Elle sert mon copain, on commence à manger exaspérés... Burger très bon, rien à dire mais tellement d'erreurs et tellement d'attente qu'on a plus envie d'attendre le dessert qui est compris dans le menu, donc on demande l'addition. Le patron nous apporte l'addition (qu'on avait calculé en avance par peur d'une autre erreur) il nous donne le ticket et là il est écrit 73€ (encore une erreur...) nous recalculons tout avec lui à savoir : 2 menus à 19€90 avec boisson, entrée, plat et dessert au choix et un cocktail pour moi (non compris dans le menu) donc ce qui faisait 39,80€ + 7,90€ pour le cocktail. Ce qui fait un total de 47,70€. Nous payons et il nous demande si ça s'est bien passé, donc on lui dit très franchement que le repas en général était très bon mais qu'au niveau du service c'était une catastrophe. Il admet que ce soir le service n'est pas bon du tout et s'excuse puis nous dis au revoir gentillement. Nous sortons, il est 23h. En résumé repas très bien mais service à retravailler.

Désoler pour l'énorme pavé, mais je voulais raconter mon expérience en détails comme ça vous vous faites votre propre avis, j'espère...

There were 3 waiters and 5 tables, at most, it was a Friday night when I was there and the wait was too long, whether it be for ordering or for receiving the food. They had only half of the plates from the menu available, we still had faith the food would be good so we still ordered something. Needless to say, the food was as bad as the service... The meat (which represents 90% of their menu) was chewy, cold, too bad for the price... I'm not a Karen that leaves reviews just because I'm mad at some service, I usually prefer to forget and move on but the thing that made me write this review was that, to top it all, they got us the receipt from another table with +10euros more that what we should have paid. So, actually, I wouldn't call this a review but rather an advice : never eat there. Perpignan has a lot more to offer in terms of restaurants with staff that really care about their image and...
