On the whole, we enjoyed our food at Au Bureau!
The starter was definitely the highlight as we LOVE quesadillas. They were absolutely delicious - the tortillas used were so soft and buttery!
For the main, we both went for an entrecôte steak with sautéed, crispy potatoes and a side salad. The potatoes were tasty but the steak was quite disappointing and the main reason why my overall score for Au Bureau is lower than what I would have liked to give. The steak course made up around 60% of the bill and, as the steak wasn’t cooked as requested, we felt that the price was unfortunately unjustified.
We requested medium-rare, which it was in one place, but the rest was closer to medium-well than anything, making the meat much less enjoyable to eat.
The pavlova was a nice and refreshing way to end the meal. My boyfriend chose the chocolate fondant though and loved it, so I’d definitely recommend that to any chocolate lovers!
I would easily revisit Au Bureau for dinner, but I wouldn’t have confidence in the steak cookery next time and would have to pick something else in order to feel as if I’m paying a fair price...
Read moreOver the years Au Bureau at Poitiers has gone downhill. I visited late last Saturday afternoon with friends. The background music was of a particular genre and not conducive to a relaxed eating experience. Food was average. There was a change of staff whilst we were dining but no one seemed interested in offering us a dessert in spite of trying to attract a server's attention so I assume there was no hand over. One member of staff was sitting at the bar with a manager and for us as diners it was frustrating to see staff around whilst not getting served. I can say that when we were served then staff were very pleasant. The women's toilets were very dark. It was difficult to find the door on the way out and I don't have problems with my sight and I'm not infirm, I imagine for less able bodies women it could be dangerous. Compared to the Au Bureau at Angoulême it lacks ambience and professionalism. It is sad that I can't give it a glowing review as I would have in the past. My last visit was last November and it was considerably...
Read morethe atmosphere and service is lovely, the food is a different story... we ordered a dish of fish and chips, mac'n'cheese and a burger. the burger was the only good thing there. the mac'n'cheese was cheap pasta that was extremely salty with "cheddar" which was just fake burger cheese melted on top. and the fish and chips was TINY, there's probably more chips in a small mcdonalds portion of fries and the fish itself was smaller than the sizes of an average person's hand! all of that for a big price tag. dessert was nice but still very cheaply made. you can clearly tell that the dishes we had where bought at a low-price store and was repackaged too look more appealing. won't be coming back and I do not recommend over the many other restaurants in...
