C’est fantastique!!
I traveled 4,500 miles to eat at Restaurant Le Levant!!
Ha! Not really, but after an exhausting 24 hours of travel time from Waukesha, Wisconsin USA, to Poitiers, France, via Reykjavík, Iceland, we found ourselves in Poitiers, without a car to complete the final leg of our journey to Condac, for our family reunion, so we decided to check in to a local hotel.
We found the accommodations at the Ibis Hotel, Poitiers France to be not only budget friendly, but immaculately clean and super cute, too. For being in the center of town, down the street from the railway, it is also incredibly quiet! Big thumbs up for our unexpected stay, here. I would not hesitate to book here, again.
As it was around 9pm Sunday (in France) when we finally settled, having started our journey from the US at 2pm Saturday, there weren’t many restaurants open to choose from, save this cute little Lebanese place, across the street, which was great since we didn’t have a car.
Let me just say, right out of the gate, it will be hard to beat this experience! Could it be the fact that we hadn’t had a proper meal (not even a snack on any of our flights!) since we left the day before, and we were starving? It could, but it was more than that…
As late as it was, we were warmly welcomed and seated immediately. The ambiance was cleanly minimalist, and very cozy. I knew nothing about Lebanese food, read only a little French (Richard, who is fluent, forgot his glasses) so we decided follow the recommendation of several reviews we’d read online and choose a vegetarian dish. We were trying to decide which dish, when our lovely server informed us that all of the dishes were part of this gorgeous platter. We were sold. “One platter eaxh, please.” We were hungry!!
Just… wow! We were not disappointed. Not only was the food incredibly delicious, it was so beautifully presented. I don’t think I could possibly choose a favorite dish, they were all so good. I savored every bite! I think our server enjoyed us enjoying his food so much, he treated us to two lovely little bites of dessert to finish our meal, and they were delicious, too!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Restaurant Le Levant is an absolute gem, not to be missed should you find yourself in Poitiers, in need of nourishing food, beautifully prepared, and served with genuine hospitality. I think Lebanese food is my new favorite cuisine! We will definitely be back. 😃

Read moreWe booked for 18 people & service was good. However we were informed if anyone ordered from the mezzes menu it would not come out at the same time as those who ordered from the ‘our plates’ side of the menu…not sure why? Pitta bread was served with the food, but cut into quarters. Food overall was ok, compared to other Lebanese resturants the portion size was fairly small & only one choice of meat per meal, but it was a good price. Resturant felt a little more like a cafe than a traditional Lebanese resturant. Overall it was good, but probably not one I would...
