LA TAVERNE - Restaurant à Josselin — Restaurant in Pontivy

We ate lunch here today and it was simply perfect! All 4 of us selected the Menu Du Jour and had all the menu options between us. Every course was amazing and the portion sizes very generous. The starters of a Seafood pie with flaky pastry was superb. The bruschetta with Gorgonzola and Serrano Ham was equally enjoyable. Main courses of Veal, carrots and rice was extremely tasty, while our friends were very happy with their steak, pepper sauce and chips. The desserts were out of this world!!! The most incredible mango & strawberry tiramisu was to die for!! The pannacotta with fruit was equally superb and a perfect end to a lovely meal. Service was quick, friendly and helpful and great effort was made to assist us in English. Full marks!...

Have visited before and it’s been ok. Went on Wednesday night, to be fair they were very short staffed. No cocktails available as ice machine broken, these things happen ok. Children served their main meal and husband starter. An hours wait for other adults main courses but no sign of husbands who got his main course 2 hours after we arrived and when the rest of the table had finished their desserts!! To be fair, to compensate we were offered complimentary coffees but by then we’d lost the will to live! Not sure we will rush back....

First visit to Josselin but there was no room at our selected restaurant. Came across La Taverne by chance and selected the Menu du Jour. Had an excellent meal for the money we paid (Duck and aubergine entree, mignon de porc sauce moutarde et frites, tartelette chocolat, demi carafe de vin) and would happily return when we are next in the area.
