Martin Plage — Restaurant in Rochefort

We decided to go to Martin Place as we really liked the the look of the building and beautifully decorated outside sitting area. We booked a table in advance and were seated upon our arrival on a table around the corner from the main entrance right next to the road. The owner explained to us that because we had dogs with us and there were more guests with dogs due to arrive she wanted us to sit on the least nice table. It should be noted that the restaurant was completely empty when we got there and only one more couple sat down when we left. The service was really poor - it’s not just that the staff forgot some of our orders, but also when we asked for the missing drinks or dips we were met with disapproving looks. Especially the male waiter seemed very displeased with our presence and the tone we were addressed with was nothing but rude. We had intended to stay for dessert and a few cocktails but left right after the main course. We noticed the staff was friendly to the other couple in the restaurant so maybe they just treated us poorly cause we’re tourists but we don’t really know. My friend really enjoyed her burger and I loved the homemade chips which is why I’m giving this two stars instead of one, but the overall experience was really negative. We were recommended this restaurant by our hotel as it was literally the only restaurant open in the area on a Tuesday night in May.

We had not booked, but we were arrived as it opened and the friendly staff accommodated us.

Service was friendly and efficient, and we were well looked after as the restaurant filled up.

The food was good, although the fish was a little overcooked. The squid was good and had deep flavours, deserts were nice.

The menu is small and there were some specials on offer. Prices seemed reasonable.

A beautiful quaint restaurant with that family feeling. Martin Plage is everything it promises to be when you see the well kept house with it’s beautiful terrace and it’s posh yet cheeky interior. The owners are lovely and the food is fantastique. I think after my third pirneau I called it paradise. The food from concept, quality and presentation is very good and I would advise this restaurant to any fish enthusiasts. However they also do sexy burgers.
