Day 1. Beach staff were very rude. There were a ton of open chairs and after a 10 min walk with a beach Bag and cooler I told my wife to just grab 2 open chairs and I’ll go pay. Not a big deal right???? So why would the beach staff make it a big deal a speak down to me telling me next time don’t grab open chairs and come straight to the booth. That’s what I pretty much did, yes the wife grabbed chairs but I went to pay right away which he wouldn’t even let me pay until the end of the day. He asked if we wanted reservations for lunch and I said I don’t think so. He then came and opened our umbrella which our cooler was directly in-front of him and he didn’t say a thing about, as a matter of fact he never offered us drinks or came back during the next 5 hours as he saw the cooler and made no issue about it.
Day 2 we arrive and like a good little boy I follow the rules and go directly to Mr power tripper…. Where he says I can’t get chairs because I have a cooler (which he never asked what was even in it). We argued a bit as the day before he knew I had it or why didn’t he even make an attempt to sell us drinks that day.
I then went down the beach to secrets and asked if they rented chairs from the security guard which he said no and I explained what happened and he told me straight up I was allowed to drink on the public beach and the whole beach is public.
Regardless the point being is it was ok to drink and have the cooler on day one but day two it’s a huge deal. So also in the end the 35 usd for chair rentals the owner obviously doesn’t need or want unless he can scam you for drinks as well. Facts are facts. I’m not saying avoid the place but if you like to be spoke down to, disrespected and treated a bit unfairly (as we by far are the only ones that do this) then go ahead and enjoy.
Sucks there’s no competition but I hear in another month they will have some. I like to see him turn down the 35 chair rentals then.
Btw we are here for 9 days times 35 a day. For chair rentals, That’s what $300? That makes me laugh a restaurant on the beach would rather have empty chairs and turn down 300 for the week. If he doesn’t need the $$$$ why is he even in business? Also thank you for the sun burn that came with you not renting me chairs/umbrella and turning down a...
Read moreDisappointing Service Despite a Beautiful Beach
I’ve always loved the beauty of Anse Marcel Beach, and as condo owner on this beautiful island, I’ve recommended it to many guests in the past. Unfortunately, my recent visit was ruined by extremely poor service from one of the staff (Bastien).
When we arrived, we unknowingly set up in a section that friends had used weeks prior (they had stayed at the resort). There was no signage or clear indication that it was “reserved,” and the chairs looked identical to the rest of the beach. From a distance, the server abruptly called over, asking if we had a reservation and telling us we couldn’t sit there — loudly, while serving another guest far away. It was embarrassing and completely unnecessary, especially when we explained we were happy to pay for chairs and order food.
We moved to another area, but the treatment didn’t improve. Despite telling him we wanted to order, we were ignored, had to walk to him for menus, and then walk up to the restaurant ourselves to place an order. At no point did he check on us or clear our table afterward.
No one ever sat in the so-called “reserved” section that day, making the initial confrontation feel even more unnecessary. The whole experience left us feeling unwelcome, and frankly, discriminated against.
The beach itself is stunning, but if you get Bastien as your server, be prepared for a cold reception and minimal service. Sadly, I can no longer recommend this spot to my guests without...
Read moreThe beach service was terrible and not due to those doing the serving but the management. If you are a minority I would avoid this place regardless of you ethnicity. I do not make it a tenancy to judge other but when other make superficial judgement not only of me but my family they do not deserve anything but a 1 star rating and realistically a higher rating than they deserve. I will not let this ruin my love of the Island but I will choose where to spend my money while in St Martin. On an island recovering from a massive hurricane they should welcome all visitors but this is not the case on the French side of the island. This might be why they are still straggling to recover and why the Dutch side is prospering. Until the French from France look beyond the end of their nose to view all members of as equal I foresee a very short future. I also make this distinction because my wife is French Canadian. Until the French from France change their outlook on all customer I can see them failing to stay in business... Once again I am not commenting on the food or the servers but the management and their treatment of the black member of our society. I am making my stand by simply not visiting this establishment. But my love for the Island goes undiminished.... The beach management do not know me from another person visiting but I will be on the Island for 2 month and I can guarantee you the funds I would have spent at this establishment will...
