Just ok... This is a premier restaurant in our area, but it disappointed. For years we wanted to visit, and the expectations proved more pleasant than the reality. The set menu is expensive for what it is and also comparing to similar restaurants near by. The food was good, but certainly not great. The service was mediocre, with me getting up and serving the wine for my friends three or so times, unacceptable! I place a lot of importance on the quality of the bread and the cheese board, both were below even a medium restaurant in the area - we live in France, surely these two easy to get right. We arrived literally 4 minutes before our reservation, partly because a thunder storm started to open outside, and to be honest we were treated like we had come an hour early and told to wait at the bar. All in all, a restaurant that has the location and the stars needs to be a wow, this was not. I am glad we went, but certainly will not take clients or...
Read moreHigh end modern dining to a set menu in a beautifully modernized ancient monastery building. Completely lives up to its reputation and Michelin star. They were able to accommodate one of us not eating seafood very nicely, but we'd warned them ahead of time, and they seemed surprised when we mentioned it. Wine pairings are recommended, as is the cheese course, which was spectacular. The only trouble we had was getting into the site after hours - you probably want to call ahead to get instructions if you aren't staying at the hotel there overnight. It was magical to be able to wander the grounds and into the buildings after dinner, with the place almost to ourselves. The entire experience was...

I am vegetarian, which is nothing at all special. But I did notify the restaurant in advance. On arrival I asked what I could get but was told the chefs were too busy to tell me. I queried this as the menu was 89 euro plus supplements. I was then told “we do not have 15,000 options for vegetarians”. I explained that just one option rather than 15,000 would be fine. All so pompously rude.
Our bill for 8 people with the cheapest wines was over 1,000 euro - some of the food was amazing and some ok. But please, snobbery of this kind is not attractive unless you hanker...
