La Terrasse du Château — Restaurant in Toulon

Tourist trap!!! We went for dinner, 3 of us. The menu outside the restaurant mentions kids menu and moules et frittes but when we got the menu at the table these items were missing. If you are a tourist or shy to ask you may think they don’t serve it. And for the wine menu ! WATCH OUT!!! The wine menu is done in a way that when you order what you think it is an average bottle of wine at 21€ ( 75cl) if you don’t pay attention you will be paying 35 € instead!!! The waitress should have been honest snd told us that what we thought we ordered would cost 35€ and not 21€ ( 50 cl) as there were others cheaper than 35€ that we could have ordered!!! Tourist trap!! Entirely our fault for not reading the wine menu properly but as s French person living in France it is the first time this has happened as normally the wine menus are written differently!!!! Very hurt about the waitress who we talked a lot with, she was nice and deep down she knew she had conned us!!! Food average. My daughter kids menu came far too early and she had finished eating by the time we started our course. In general .. an evening spoilt by the fact the waitress didn’t make the clarification. It started off good. Great location, nice terrace, friendly waiter, interesting menu.

Starter was fine (friture d'éperlans).

Main courses sounded great on the menu but were disappointing: bland & overcooked (mix de poisson & seiche (1 whole slice of chorizo cut into 5 minuscule chunks, really?)).

Being allowed to pay was a challenge. The wait took way too long& we had to call a 2nd waiter to get the check (the first one was apparently more interested in his cigarette).

Nous avions réservé pour 4 à 21h mais la table n’était pas dressée quand nous sommes arrivés. Nous avons dû attendre 15 minutes malgré la disponibilité du personnel. Ensuite, une partie de la carte n’était plus disponible lors du service, ce qui est fort regrettable. De plus, nous avions choisi de prendre deux aïolis et deux autres plats, et nouvelle déception il ne reste plus qu’un seul aïoli… Étant très déçu, nous glissons une petite remarque au serveur pour faire part de notre mécontentement, le serveur étant très commerçant nous répond : « si vous êtes pas content, vous pouvez aller voir ailleurs » Dans l’obligation de choisir un nouveau plat, nous nous rabattons sur un filet de poisson.
