On a sweltering 95° evening in July, my family and long-time friend decided to go out for dinner. We settled on a little pizzeria located just a few hundred feet from the marina where our dinghy was docked. The waiter and waitress’ were very friendly and attentive, always making sure we had enough cold water. The wait was short for our food and the pizza was delicious, baked in an old style pizza oven with perfectly crispy thin crust. This little spot felt like a hidden gem, it was quiet and had a very relaxed atmosphere. We were all satisfied and feeling good. Then, suddenly, this place didn’t feel quite as friendly as it let on… I remember seeing it happen so vividly (the entire front entrance and south-facing wall is glass). A young waitress wearing glasses is headed towards the door to bus a table as a group of customers approach the entrance, as she walks past her boss (an older man looking to be about 30 years older than her) he grabs onto her braided ponytail and jerks her back from the doorway. He did so with enough force to stop her in her tracks. A look of fear on her face as he brings her to his side and pats her shoulder, smiling to the incoming guests so nonchalantly it makes me sick to my stomach. After witnessing this I tried to keep an eye on them, wondering if at some point the boss would apologize to her- or in some way address what he did. I don’t have much more to say. I am ashamed that I couldn’t muster the courage to say something, I didn’t want to cause a scene or make things worse for that poor waitress. I hope that writing about this incident encourages others to speak out, and that this business owner doesn’t continue to get away with physically harassing...
Elle me dit oui bien-sûr a quel nom.
Read moreOkay food; pleasant service. Ducked in for lunch on a very windy day when nothing else at the port was open. The fresh mussels were the best thing on the menu. Would not be my first choice for another meal. Restaurant Creperie du Hameau down a bit further is a better bet based upon an admittedly small sample of one meal...
