My husband and I spent month in France and came to Tours, where I had spent time years ago, in July. This was the worst meal experience we had, and one of the worst meals I've ever had at a restaurant in general. The server was quite rude at first, but she was less abrasive as the meal went on. We never got the bottle of wine we ordered, which ended being just as well because we couldn't wait to leave after we got our food. The escargot was scalding hot, burned, and absolutely flavorless. Both of our main plats were embarrassingly bad. I got the fish, and it was neither cooked well nor seasoned well; the texture as a result of the poor cook was so off putting. Neither one of us could bring ourselves to finish what we ordered. The couple at the table next to us each ordered steaks, and they didn't seem too happy, either. The steaks looked like flattened, burned pieces of car tires and aside from that were mostly fat. Seeing the previous positive reviews, I don't know if this is a result of a change in management or...

Deserves a detour if authenticity is what you are looking for! You will find outstanding accoeuil and attentive service, combined with great food ingredients mastered by a true chef de cuisine, whose name is Saddam, who worked in the Paris 5 star restaurants and then moved to Tours, focussed in offering true experience to the guests, such as escargots, terrine de campagne, foie gras, and the best rognons one can dream of, accompanied by a delicious gratin dophinoise. Desserts? creme caramel, ile flottant in their perfect execution achieve highest standards. Great capability bu the owner in choosing the wine selection: Sancerre Revendry-Ducroix is an example. A good meal, good service, but nothing to shout about. We enjoyed fried whitebait and pate for starters, which were nice albeit not outstanding. This continued over the main course (boeuf bourguignon and andouillette), dessert (pain perdu with creme anglaise, sadly a pre-fabricated package deal, and fromage blanc, probably not made on site) to the digestive (eau de vie Mirabelle), which was generous and nice but still a little too young. Un rond de serviette. Comme à la maison, pour la famille, sous le regard attendri de nos grands-mères et de nos grands-pères. Le voyage commence par ce cabinet de curiosités, des marques du passé qui créent l’atmosphère unique de ce lieu. Dès le pas de la porte, les ancêtres et les proches posent sur vos épaules une douce pression, propice à vous laisser aller. Un air de Piaf ou de Brel pour vous remettre en culottes courtes, et le festival peut commencer. Car on entre ici comme on entrerait au Panthéon de la dive et de la gastronomie. En toute intimité, chaleur humaine et culture bienveillante. Il n’y a pas que le fumet des cuisines, il y a la gouaille de Franck et l’atmosphère de ce lieu, réservé aux chanceux que nous sommes. Tous au moins un jour, quand nous poussons cette porte. Les recettes sont uniques, fraîches, au grès des saisons et des inspirations du patron. La volonté du maître des lieux complète une ardoise déjà bien garnie : pot au feu, escargots, rillettes et rillons de Touraine, Viandes en majesté, la beuchelle (ris de veau et rognons, une splendeur), filets de dorade... baignée de vins malins, charpentés, et terminée par l’absinthe en pure tradition, la cuisine est enchanteuse, nostalgique, pure. J’ai fait là le plus beau des voyages : un retour dans la Touraine de mon enfance, bercé des recettes que me faisaient ma mère et mes grands-mères. Je ferai désormais ce bond en arrière dès que j’en aurais l’occasion. Le privilège de tous, en somme. Ne le galvaudez pas !

Amazing! The plate of the day was cow tongue that I love so I got inside of the restaurant. It was melting of softness slightly spicy perfect. I thought the pasta would not be a good side, but it was perfect. Ordered a salad side because of it, that was perfectly seasoned. The dessert was just marvelous, the poire cooked in wine and anis was so beautifully presented. The only very minor detail is that when given the menu I was not explained the dishes of the day.

An inspired choice. This restaurant was to our taste, authentic 🇨🇵 dishes, very good service, 10-star food. My opinion is that if you are looking for something authentic, you can go there. We made a reservation the day before. 07.05.2025 Remember that in 🇨🇵 tap water is drinkable, we always asked it, “ Puis-je avoir de l'eau, s'il vous plait “ or “eau du robinet “ ,otherwise you will pay ~6.5€ for a bottle of water

Amazing! The plate of the day was cow tongue that I love so I got inside of the restaurant. It was melting of softness slightly spicy perfect. I thought the pasta would not be a good side, but it was perfect. Ordered a salad side because of it, that was perfectly seasoned. The dessert was just marvelous, the poire cooked in wine and anis was so beautifully presented. The only very minor detail is that when given the menu I was not explained the dishes of the day.

An inspired choice. This restaurant was to our taste, authentic 🇨🇵 dishes, very good service, 10-star food. My opinion is that if you are looking for something authentic, you can go there.
