I walked into the cafe/bar for a morning coffee. Cafe was almost empty fir its size except 5-6 customers, sitting on the exterior, facing the port.
(I will try to write the rest without any presumptions of rac!sme or any other discr!minat!on. So they are just fact/analysis.)
I stood in the front of the cafe, for the bartenders to look towards me and install me somewhere. After some failed attempt to forcefully make them look towards me, I settled on a table outside. (Here I could have gone inside and asked them if I could sit in this cafe). 2 customers came after me, and found themselves with good customer care from the bartenders. I let that slide. I gave the benefit of the doubt that they might haven’t seen me at all (despite the fact that I am sitting at one of the prime spot of the cafe).
Seeing that the bartenders on relatively not too busy, I gave myself 10 mins to see if they would approach me in the meantime. They approached the other new (who came after me) with their orders and didn’t even look towards me, even if I tried to forcefully look towards them.
Conclusion: I believe in humans enough that I would like to think that there were no d!scr!minat!on from the bartenders (even though I was the only non-white human in that cafe at the time). But I can take incompetency. So, I would like to point that the bartenders were not at their best in that day. I have nothing against people of any or!gin. But the bartender who (also) spoke in ital!an was not doing her best job that day. That ruined my morning, so to speak.!
PS: I went to the cafe next to it, and had a much better...
Read moreIn many years of travel, we have rarely written a bad review. I’m not sure what went wrong here on a Sunday afternoon. But it seems the establishment was not interested in serving us, even though there were tables available. It took 30 minutes for someone to take a drink order and another extensive amount of time before it was served. At which point they informed us that it was too late to order food. There are better options in Vannes. Really avoid this place...
