We had a wonderful long lunch at Mama Trotter with friends. My husband and I are both vegan, while our friends eat meat and dairy. We were all very well provided for and beyond satisfied with our meal here, given the menu offers both a non-vegan option and a vegan option for all courses.
The food was unbelievably tasty and it’s clear the chef knows what she’s doing with flavour! A deceptively simple beetroot salad starter was expertly prepared and elevated by its seasoning and garnishing of various seeds. My tastebuds were more than happy.
We deeply appreciated the concept and ethical approach behind the menu design with its celebration of seasonal and local produce, which was clearly influenced by experience of global cuisine.
Not only was our meal very enjoyable, but the intimate and homely setting alongside the chef’s personal genuine welcome and service from the heart made our experience even more joyful. This was someone who clearly loves to serve a plateful of happiness to others.
We had been meaning to visit here for nearly a year and finally made it a few weeks ago. Our only regret is that we didn’t visit sooner! We will be back and we will be sure to bring others to share the experience...
Read moreAmazing restaurant! The chef is incredibly passionate about her work and you can tell. All the fruits and vegetables used in the kitchen are local and in season and the boutique has many wonderful local wines and home made products for sale. The chef is knowledgeable about allergies, intolerances and dietary restrictions and especially if you call in advance, she'll keep them in mind for the menu. I am allergic to gluten and I was able to eat the chocolate cake (moelleux au chocolat on the menu), which was absolutely fantastic. My family members who can eat gluten told me they couldn't even tell it was glutenfree and I had no problems after eating it! Attached is a picture of a different dessert, pavlova, which was wonderful too. I was really amazed. The main courses and appetizers are equally great. If you're spending some time in the city and you'd like to have local wines and food made with local vegetables and a lot of love, this is the...
Read moreCute little restaurant that advertises “vegan friendly” which is a rare find in Vienne. After going to all boulangerie and patisserie around town I found this restaurant for a sweet treat. They had only 1 vegan dessert which was better than nothing and I gladly accepted it. Tapioca base with coconut milk which is veeeeery simple to make once you have the ingredients. The peach topping was a delicious except the sugar that turned into caramel wasn’t really my taste and it was so hard that I actually cut my tongue…it would’ve been much better without the sugar I must say but at least I got my vegan sweet. Because it was to go she kindly asked me to bring back to recipient where the dessert was served which I did the following...
