Le Shalimar — Restaurant in Vire

We have used the Shalimar a few times and also for home delivery. When my daughter came to stay I wanted us to have a lovely meal.

After starting my starter I became seriously unwell. This was not the fault of the restaurant. I was blue lighted to hospital and spent 36 hours in resus and write this from my hospital bed.

My daughter told them that they would be back for the meal so please package it. We also had drinks to the value of €28 that hadn't been touched.

My daughter returned to pick up the food and pay. My sons half eaten naan that he really wanted had been placed in the bin and drinks down the drain instead of bottled. The bill came to €100 and they had charged us for the binned drinks.

I'm less than happy with the resto now and will look elsewhere. Considering he knew us as loyal customers.

We did not have a reservation and we're welcomed in and seated. Explaining that we spoke a little French, she asked her husband to come and take our order. He explained the menu, and we chose the 3 course menu for 2 with a bottle of white. All courses were freshly cooked to our taste (medium), delicious and a perfect portion size. The cheese naan was light and the best we had both tasted. At then end whilst paying we discovered the owner we had spoken to was a Michelin chef and he had cooked our meal. We had heard good things about le Shalimar. Although it's a fair distance for us, we decided to give it a go. We were not disappointed. The restaurant is well situated in Vire with lots of parking. As you arrive, you are received with a warm welcome. The menu is well-rounded with lots of choices for vegetarians We met chef and owner Atif, who asked us our preference for heat before preparing our dishes. When the food came, it was a delight! Decent portions, perfect spicing, delicious from start to finish. Highlight for me was the garlic Nan. Pricing is fair. We will definitely come again, and will bring friends...
