Had a wonderful experience at Calligraphy Seafood Restaurant in Batumi! The service was great — staff were welcoming and helpful throughout. Although the food took quite a while to arrive, it was absolutely worth the wait. Everything we ordered was full of flavor and cooked perfectly.

The highlight for me was the small fish dish — it was so tasty I was tempted to order it again, but we were a bit worried about the extra wait time. Next time, we definitely will!

I highly recommend visiting this place as a group. You’ll save money and get the chance to try a variety of dishes together — it’s a much better way to experience everything they have to offer.

Pro tip: Go to the nearby fish market with a local before heading to the restaurant. You can buy fresh seafood at a great price, and the restaurant will cook it for you for a minimal fee. It’s a brilliant way to enjoy super fresh, customized meals while supporting the restaurant by ordering your drinks and side dishes there.

One thing to note: When we arrived at the market area, a few local guys tried approaching us. When we ignored them, they didn’t seem too happy about it. It’s best to politely avoid these interactions and stick with your local guide or host if possible.

I recently had an amazing dining experience at Calligraphy in Batumi and just had to share! From the moment I walked in, I felt right at home with the warm and inviting atmosphere. The decor is stylish yet cozy, making it the perfect spot for a relaxed meal. And EXCEPTIONAL sea-view.

The seafood at Calligraphy is simply outstanding. I started with some fresh mussels that were cooked to perfection, followed by Barabulka, which was crispy on the outside and tender inside—absolutely delicious! The fish was incredibly fresh and flavorful, and the salads were a perfect complement to the seafood, crisp and full of vibrant flavors.

What really made the meal special was the selection of Georgian beverages. They paired perfectly with the dishes and added a unique local touch to the dining experience.

We purchased fresh fish from the market and had it prepared at this restaurant. We specifically asked for the fish to be grilled (except for the Barabulka, which we know is typically fried), but unfortunately, some of the dishes were still fried. The mussels, however, were excellent perfectly done and very flavorful. That said, the oil used in some of the other dishes, including the salmon, was of poor quality. We requested it grilled, but it was fried instead and came out overly oily, which was disappointing.

The service also left room for improvement. We waited quite a long time, and in the end, the staff did not bring the bill to our table, so we had to go up and pay ourselves.
