A wonderful winery visit in a beautiful town. Certainly one of the pioneers of the proper and natural winemaking in Georgia, John Wurdeman helped bring the 2007-10 vintages of several producers to the US where I first realized just how quickly Georgia moved from the Soviet style horror wines to proper respectful and unique wines that finally allow to show off the terroir. Yes, qvevri (the clay amphora) and natural winemaking were not an absolute must for that but, in today world, these are some of the most proper and honest ways to provide unique marketing and, yes, the methods are historic so why should I even have to be apologetic about them. If you are able to meet John and his family, you are quite likely in for a treat and may end up staying for dinner with good food and wine. Please make sure you grab a hotel afterwards, drunk driving is wrong anywhere but certainly even more dangerous on the windy Kakheti roads.

Tasting 40 GEL 2 White, 2 Red & Clear ChaCha This place caters exclusively to large groups. It's truly a shame that a couple or individuals can't experience the wine tasting with traditional Georgian hospitality. This time I even made a prior inquiry via the online form & did not receive any response. The wines are good. The food is exceptional (though substantially higher priced than anywhere else in town), but after two visits in 5 years, I still felt like a bother, instead of being treated as a guest. We tried the wines, but didn't learn anything about the winery. We watched a group enter and they received a completely different experience. Most of the wines were sold out, so I guess that is why they don't put much effort into encouraging customers.

Remember: this is not a place for khinkali. And you will almost certainly never be served shashlik here. Yet it’s one of the best places on Earth where I’ve ever eaten. I’ve been coming here for fifteen years — probably forty or fifty times — and with every visit my love for it grows stronger.

The restaurant is part of the Pheasant’s Tears winery, where natural wines are made using ancient Georgian methods — fermented and aged in clay qvevri buried underground. The wines are produced without filtration or additives, from local grape varieties that are being revived right here in Kakheti.

Chef Gia Rokashvili is a phenomenon. Every morning he goes to the local market himself, choosing what nature has given that day — herbs, mushrooms, vegetables, lamb, local cheese, freshly baked bread from the clay tone oven. There is no menu: you simply sit down, and the chef feeds you. It seems simple, but behind that simplicity lies precision, depth, and a profound sense of taste. This is Georgian food, but not restaurant food — it’s real home-style cooking, rooted in the land, the season, and memory.

Each dish here is part of a living dialogue between the chef, the wine, and the time of year. Food and wine exist together, each enhancing the other. And in that harmony lies a kind of perfection that never becomes familiar.

I’ve celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, and even the day before my wedding here. I’ve come with my wife, my parents, my friends. This place always feels filled with love, calm, and happiness.

If you find yourself in Sighnaghi, come here. But book in advance — and don’t come just to eat. Come to live through an evening slowly, with wine, and with respect for the rhythm of...

The food that we had was fabulous, however, the service was one of the worst in Georgia, making the overall experience a poor one:

We wanted to do a wine tasting, but the waitress/manager said she is the only person in the restaurant and has the restaurant fully booked. She told us that she cannot do the tasting with us. However, until the moment we left there were at least 2 main waiters and a couple of other people helping them too, and only three tables were taken in total. We had to ask three different waiters for coffee, and instead of turkish coffee (what we asked), we received really bad filter coffee. We waited for 20 minutes from the moment we asked for the bill until we actually decided to get up and go pay ourselves because no one brought the bill.

On top of that, a lot of the dishes were unavailable, too. As a matter of fact, they had none of the cheeses in the menu. The bread wasn't fresh. Not exactly what I would have expected from an upmarket,...

If you're looking for an exceptional Georgian wine tasting experience, look no further than the one hosted by Tamriko. Her passion for both the wines and the culture shines through in every aspect of the wine tasting event. Her knowledge is vast and she is always eager to share it with her guests in a friendly and approachable manner.

The wines themselves are nothing short of spectacular, each one a reflection of the unique terroir and winemaking traditions of Georgia. Tamriko does an excellent job of guiding you through the tasting, explaining the characteristics of each wine and how they pair with different foods.

Overall, if you're a wine lover looking for a one-of-a-kind tasting experience, Tamriko's Georgian wine tasting is not to be missed. Her warmth, knowledge, and passion for the wines and culture of Georgia make this a truly exceptional experience.

Really suggest to visit this place, as for us this set the whole mood of...
