Terrible service â weâll never come back.
We used to visit Bernand (Tbilisi, Tatishvili St. 16A) often. The food was good, the interior cozy, and prices reasonable. But one recent situation completely ruined our impression.
Our friend came to visit Georgia, and we decided to meet at Bernand â a place we trusted. We wanted to enjoy a nice evening with good food and conversation. Instead, it turned into a complete disappointment.
There were three of us. Among the drinks, we ordered: beer, compote, and a Margarita. We never mentioned pizza. The waiter didnât repeat the order or clarify anything â just left.
Later, when part of the food and the Margarita didnât arrive, we asked another waitress. She asked: â Pizza Margarita? We replied: â No, the cocktail Margarita. She nodded and left. We thought it was sorted.
Then the original waiter returned and said: â You ordered Pizza Margarita. We explained again: â No, we meant the cocktail. He answered: â You shouldâve clarified.
Excuse us, but isnât it the waiterâs job to confirm the order if thereâs any confusion? We didnât even know they served pizza. Plus, the menu clearly lists âMargaritaâ as a cocktail and âPizza Margaritaâ separately.
The waiter began to argue, raise his voice, and showed no apology â only irritation and passive aggression. Eventually, he walked away, and we watched him talk to the manager. But no one came to us.
Then, a pizza Margarita was brought to our table â even though we had already clarified multiple times that we meant the cocktail. We asked to pack it âto goâ just to avoid more arguing. No apology. No attempt to resolve the issue.
We said: â Weâre willing to pay for it, but it was the waiterâs mistake. The response: more head shakes and the same line â âYou didnât clarify.â
To make things worse, a woman at the next table made passive comments and then said something to the waitress in Georgian. The waitress turned to us and said: â She says the waiter didnât yell. (Letâs be honest â he didnât scream, but he pressured us, accused us, and raised his voice. Thatâs just as bad.)
Then the waitress added: â In Georgia, locals will always take the side of their own people.
Seriously? So even if the customer is right, you support the staff just because of nationality? That felt like biased treatment based on where weâre from â not an attempt to understand the situation fairly.
In the end, the waitress concluded: â Youâre both at fault equally. Just a misunderstanding. And walked away â no emotion, no effort to make peace.
The waiter never came back. We paid for everything â including the pizza we didnât order â and left in silence.
What remained was the feeling of being blamed, misjudged, and dismissed â and not even a simple âsorry.â
Summary: âď¸ Food â yes, tasty. âď¸ Service â terrible. âď¸ Responsibility â none. âď¸ Communication â poor. âď¸ Atmosphere â ruined.
If you donât want your evening spoiled â stay away from Bernand. Weâre never coming back, and neither are...
Read moreOverall this place might seems nice, food tastes ok, prices are reasonable and interior is ok. But service is unacceptable. If you want restaurant experience and are attracted by prices, pass this place, the service is just absent and prices are terrible when you consider there is no service and you will have to pay extra 10% of your order for "service". Just choose some other place even if you have to pay more. Bernard white beer tasted nothing like white beer should, it was either expired, or we were given wrong order (serving wrong order seems to theme in this place) No paper menus only using QR code. When menu is digital you at least expect items to be up to date. But no, they were not serving augustine beer. We specifically asked waiter if he could bring beer in the glass that was displayed on the menu, he promised that it will be done. He did not bring beer in that glass. Maybe that sounds neat picky, but when you pay 7gel for 0.3l of krombacher you kind of expect those things. quail came on time and was decent. after we finished quail dirty plates with leftovers and napkins were not changed for the next meal. There was ample time to do it since we waited another 20 minutes for next meal. We waited for 30 min for our order and then discovered, that it got mixed with other table both they and us got wrong order. The people at other table had no choice but to accept the mix up as they noticed it too late. We were given choice to either eat the wrong order or wait another 30 minutes. We had to eat the wrong order. It was terrible. This situation could happen in every restaurant. Mix-ups happen, and there are busy days. But this wasn't a busy day, restaurant was half empty. (I can't imagine what chaos ensues on a busy day). But worst of all that no formal apologies were offered after meal was over. I thought they just forgot about what happened. I explained the situation. But manager just rudely told me that this situation is normal and there is nothing wrong with what happened. If you like cheap food just order some street food, If you like fine dining just choose other, more sophisticated place. If you respect yourself and people you eat with, I would not recommend...
Read moreLets start with what we all actually go to these places for, the food today i ate khinkali, cucumber and tomato salad with walnuts and some chicken wings and washed it all down with some white bernard beer. As always the beer was fantastic, khinkali is as good as it gets when youre not eating it at home ( assuming you are a natural yazbegian mountain man like me ) its juicy and tasty but still not quite it. The salad i can say with confidence is one of the best ones ive had homemade or no truly outstanding such a simple dish but with such taste, i myself am georgian so i have had plethora of experience of eating all these dishes. Sooo now we get to the reason why the food got a four star review, the chicken wings while made with natural homegrown chicken meat and you can tell this by the size texture and taste it was really lacking it was really really dry and if im not mistaken the menu states fried chicken wings my wings were baked not fried, the meat was good but no seasoning just really stale gas station wings and the sauce was just a simple A1 steak sauce while im aware that this is new to the menu in and of itself and its not what bernard does or is known for i believe that if you put something on the menu you should execute it perfectly. The service was good the jolly guy with a shaved head was nice and helpful the food arrived on time and seating was easy and comfortable, the atmosphere stays the same and its good, overall i enjoyed myself alot but i will never order the chicken...
