Sauerbratenpalast — Restaurant in Aachen

Do not go there if you are not german. The service is terrible, they do not speak one word of english, even if you talk to them in german they claim they don't understand. The people in charge seem to be angry when waiting tables and taking the order. The place is ugly and they have no WiFi. The food... looks messy. It seems that they put all the leftovers in one plate. They claim is the best german restaurant in Aachen, this ... may be true for some people.. but you will only enjoy it if you actually like german food... personally I've to better german places in Aachen with significantly better service. Latinoamericanos, españoles: NO VAYAN, ES HORRIBLE. La gente es grosera, la comida mala y poco variada, no hay nada de ambiente, cuando entras parece que entraste a un funeral y el lugar es bastante feo. Pero sobre todo ... los dueños... parace que quieren que te vayas y que les molesta que...

This restaurant accomplishes what it tries to, being a real thing if you want a traditional German experience. Here, you don't calculate the calories. I've eaten there twice, first a saeurbraten with knödel and then jägerschnitzel with fries. The latter was just huge! They apparently want to keep the food fresh, meaning that they can run out of items - and also seats so better come soon after opening if you truly want to eat there. Note that I found no single thing in English in the restaurant and my German skills are enough for the basic restaurant talk. The opening times in Google Maps appeared...

Nach langer Zeit bin ich den Wunsch meiner Kinder, noch mal im Sauerbraten Palast essen zu gehen, nachgekommen. Lange Zeit habe ich auf Grund der hohen Preise ( Essen, Salat, Mayo und Getränk...da kommt was zusammen pro Person) einen Bogen darum gemacht. Also sind wir zu fünft dort hin und haben uns nach betreten des Lokals einen Tisch ausgesucht, an den man auch mit 6 Personen hätte sitzen können. Aber da hatte ich noch keinen Kontakt mit der Inhaberin gehabt, die mich nach der Frage, wie viel Personen wir sind, an einen wie sie meinte, Fünfer Tisch verwies. Dies war aber ein vierter Tisch auf dessen Kopf noch ein Stuhl dazu stand. Zähneknirschend setzten wir uns dort hin und kurze Zeit später haben wir dann auch bestellt. Während wir auf unser Essen warteten, betraten vier Gäste das Lokal, wurden freundlich begrüßt und an den Tisch unserer Wahl geführt. Da war ich eigentlich schon bedient und wäre am liebsten wieder gegangen...aber meine Kinder. Ich hatte Sauerbraten mit Knödel bestellt und bin von der Portion nicht annähernd satt geworden. Die Knödel waren etwas größer als Tischtennisbällen und 3 Stück an der Zahl. Zum Gück sind mein Kinder nicht die großen Esser und so konnte ich hier und dort noch was abstauben. Lecker war es, aber für mich ist die Portion viel zu klein ausgefallen. Ich fühlte mich als Gast zweiter Wahl, der Tisch war für fünf Personen viel zu klein und das Preis-Leistungsverhältniss stimmt nicht. Das Fazit ist, so schnell wird man mich hier nicht...
