We went to Ashoka haus on 03.05.2020 to get our order to go, since the "Abholung" option was offered. My wife went in wearing a mask and unfortunately only after the payment (no cards accepted) she noticed that none of the waiters (there were 3 people in there) wore a mask, which is mandatory during the covid emergency. She told the waiters that wearing a mask was compulsory, but the waiters told her that they did not wear it when they were in the family. My wife was very worried, since she is pregnant and the initial interaction with the waiter was at less than 1 meter.
After exiting the restaurant (no separate entrance and exit provided), we noticed that we were not given any receipt. My wife went in again and asked for one. Unfortunately were not given any official receipt, but only a handwritten piece of paper. We had to enter another time, and only upon our request, the waiter put a stamp on the piece of paper.
What should have been a normal dinner turned into a traumatic experience for us. Ashoka restaurant is a public place, and the owners/waiters should act accordingly and respect its customers' safety. The behavior we found was in our opinion irresponsible and unprofessional. We are now very worried that the infection might have taken place in the meanwhile. This shouldn't happen when all the hygienic norms are followed. We are very disappointed and will certainly never return...
Read moreIf only I could give Zero stars. Classsic Dissapointment. Absolutely Zero Hospitality. As an Indian, I take the liberty to judge this Restaurant(if I may say), on the basis of food, and it is Below Average just like their hospitality.
Fooled again by the ambience of the outside flow of the river, I went to Asokha house for the second time. The first time wasnt a great experience either, Nevertheless, everybody deserves a second chance, but no thirds for this Restaurant. Lesson learnt. The staff are roaming with masks below their noses, comment on the quantity of food you have ordered and how you should just stop ordering, commenting on how a woman should let the guy pay, and that I have no money in my bank account as a woman which is why my card isnt working!! I mean, with a smirk on their faces, saying things like that, even if there is some drop of Indian connection left, turns out just a Complete Failure of decency, hospitality and oh yes humanity. Wanting to relax with some good home like Indian food during a weekend is all I wanted, but Unfortunately, my blood was boiling by the end of dinner. Street food sellers in India have a better hospitality and amazingly delicious food than what you will find here in Ashoka...
Read moreRarely I give negative reviews. In past I gave 5 stars to Ashoka House and wrote a positive review. But now I have deleted that review and writing this one. Now, you can imagine how bad an experience it was at this restaurant and this was not the first time. I ignored my previous horrible experience at Ashoka house and did not write anything but this time I can't ignore.
Hospitality and service of this restaurant is as bad as you can imagine. It's especially bad if you are an Indian and have visited this restaurant with a female companion. They have no respect for women. They comment on what food you are ordering and the amount of the food as well. Food is also below average. They use same gravy for most of their food items and charge hefty amount for it. My female companion offered to pay for the food which seemed like an alien concept to the waiter who started commenting that as a Man, I should pay and then later he started being rude and refused to take her card.
Kindly avoid this...
