Budike — Restaurant in Berlin

Possibly the worst dining experience I've experienced so far in Berlin — and that says a lot, in a city where "customer service" and "hospitality" are alien concepts.

We entered the restaurant and were shown a table by one of the waitresses. After that, we simply stopped existing in their eyes and turned into ghosts. They didn't utter a single word to us in 20 minutes. We had to fetch the menus and cutlery ourselves, light the candle on the table ourselves, etc. Waitresses came and went right next to our tables, locking eye contact with us multiple times — they just apparently decided we, as foreigners, as non-"Urberliner", weren't worth their time.

After 20 minutes of this absolutely Kafka-esque circus, we just got up and left, there again triggering absolutely no reaction from the staff who placidly watched us step out — and never return.

As someone else said, 5-stars reviews are probably either fake ones, or regular customers who are deemed worthy enough to get looked at and served from times to times.

Spare yourself a bit of mental sanity, don't go there....

My friends and I had a very unpleasant experience here, and unfortunately, I can’t recommend this place.

Despite a slow start — over 30 minutes waiting for someone to take our order and being told tap water wasn’t allowed — we tried to enjoy our evening. But when it came time to pay, things took a turn.

The owner was shockingly rude. She served and took payments from other (local German) customers before us, even though we had been waiting longer. When we asked to pay, she abruptly pointed at us and shouted in German, demanding to know what we had eaten — making us feel deeply unwelcome and clearly treated differently than the locals.

It was an uncomfortable and disappointing experience that left a sour taste after an otherwise...

The setting/deco is very nice, but I experienced the service as rude and unpleasant. The waitress scuffed at our food choices, didn't clearly state that tap water wasn't possible and refused to take the bottles of water back or to concede that she had not been clear about it. We were all speaking German, some with an accent, and I perceived a few racist undertones to the way we were treated, in part related to comments made about the language.

I would not come back again. Shame, because the food was alright (pricey but okay) and the deco very nice, but the service was...
