This is a nice little restaurant in an old house, with all the wooden beams still intact, very sweet; but lacking character. I went on a Sunday morning, no reservation (oops! that was a mistake!) I was lucky to get a table for two adults, they let us squeeze in a kid - very nice of them! The drinks and food came to the table very promptly and everything looked very pretty. However, the food was very, very average German breakfast food: not exciting, not special or stand-out in any way... but not bad. Cheese, brötchen, Salat, Wurst, alles dabei. It is a little on the pricey side, for average - but- I guess probably not so bad for a nice-ish restaurant. The service was also very average. Our waitress wasn't UNfriendly, but she completely failed to bring a second plate/cutlery for our third little guest. (The table was only set for two) And it was extremely difficult to get her attention to ask for it. Also extremely difficult to get her attention to get the bill, we sat with our wallets on the table for a good 15 minutes, her walking past at least five times (seeming) to actually avoid looking at us; we finally had to yell her down! I hate doing that to hard-working service people.
NO EC-CARD payment available. That's just very "eh" now-a-days. I mean, seriously..............
In summary - an average restaurant - cute on the inside - not completely hopeless staff - but, I don't think I'd go back. I wasn't...
Read moreCafé Wetterstein caught our eye in the dark, it looked so cozy and when I saw matcha latte written on its outside blackboard, I wanted to go there and try it for the first time in my life (before I tried pure matcha tea). We came in at 7 PM, and the staff didn't look happy about our "late" visit. Two ladies told us they were closing in one hour. We said it was fine as we only wanted a cup of something. The waitress gave us the menu and came back to us after 15 minutes, which was strange as she was concerned about the time before. The space was nice and almost empty, no other guests arrived after us. We ordered matcha latte and apple puntsch. We didn't wait long for it but when it arrived, my glass with the supposed matcha latte wasn't green at all. I tasted it and it was latte macchiato. I couldn't do anything about it because the waitress disappeared, and there was no one to ask for a replacement. I drank it because of what else I could do and we waited for her as we wanted to pay and leave. It took some time for her to come back to the room and she started cleaning before closing. Finally, she came to our table, so I could pay for something I didn't want and leave. It wasn't a pleasant experience, I felt like home, in the Czech Republic. I like visiting Berlin because of its hospitality and better client service than it is in Prague. But not...
Read moreWe stumbled upon the Café, when we were in Alt-Tegel for the first time. It is a lovely place to have an early dinner or just enjoy a cup of Joe with a friend. There is inside and outside sitting. Outside is perfect on days with the sun shining. We had a slice of chocolate cake which is more than enough for two, the only thing I didn't enjoy was the huge amount of cream on it, but the chocolate ganache was delectable. The service was really great and the staff really friendly. My friend ordered a drink they didn't have on the menu, and the first attempt was not to his liking and they changed it for him without charge, so very...
